Boy or girl?

We seem to keep calling Pacman ‘he’ and I guess it’s because everyone assumes that Pacman [the real one] is a boy. It wasn’t my intention for that at all. In fact, I just thought it was cute. Everyone is asking what we would like Pacman to be me and I can’t really decide. Aside from the fact that I want a healthy baby and a safe and drama free delivery, I cna’t decide if I want a boy or girl. If I was given the choice to pick, I still wouldn’t know.

On one hand, I think it would be nice to have a boy and say that we’ve got a pair and who knows, can even close shop after. Not only that, our family name will be able to carry on which is something not that important apparently to Westerners but still, it’s nice to know that it’s not going to die off.  On top of that, I get to do more shopping as well. That is something no woman can resist right? *lol*

Then on the other hand, in this day and age, a lot of people said better to have girls in the family because there is a higher chance of them looking after you in old age. Not only that, for us, it would mean that we don’t need to do too much shopping either because of all the hand-me-downs from Arianna. No shopping doesn’t make Mummy happy at all!! Also, after seeing how this little boy at the doctor’s behaving rather badly, when I came out of the nurses room, he told me, it better not be a boy! *lol*

They say that based on mother’s instinct, you can tell. Apparently I was dead wrong about it the first time around. I was so convince that Arianna was going to be a boy. In fact, my mum also told me that she felt it was going to be a boy too until we were confirmed mistaken. For a brief moment, I was a little disappointed not because it was a girl after all, but that my mother’s intinct failed me. And it sort of made me feel blek. So this time when Ted asked me what I thought we were going to have, I didn’t want to guess at all, knowing that I’d most likely get it wrong anyway. But Ted is quite sure that it’s going to be a boy and he may just be right because he was right the first time.

Apparently, another way to tell if you’re going to have a boy or girl next is checking the swirls on top of your childs head. Some of them have 2 swirls on the crown of the head or ‘chuin’ as it is known in Hokkien, and some only one. Arianna has only one so it’s not applicable to us but if your 1st kid has 2, then check the patterns of those “chuin” and if both are opposite swirls, you may have a baby boy and if the patterns are exactly the same then it may be a baby girl. Thanks to Mindy for sharing that. Her girl has opposite ones and she is exepcting a boy! :) So go figure….

Another site she shared was this. Apparently, I’m more likely to have another girl but you know what? II’m not going to bother to do tests and silly questionaires. I’ll just wait till we see the doctors in a few weeks time and find out. Nothing beats the good ol’ ultrasound! *lol*

Hmm… didn’t know about the swirls on the child’s head could predict the second child’s gender. I heard from my MIL, the nipple of the first child could the next child’s gender but I’m not pretty sure about it :P

I get to know there’s chinese conception chart based on mother’s age and conception in chinese lunar age& month. I followed the calendar, just for the fun of it as I was curious of it’s accurateness whether I could really get a boy or not :P And, I got a boy… :P

Anyway, boy or girl is the same … still our baby right? I prefer girls… they’re so manja & adorable!

Ryan mami : Well, there are tonned of old wives tales out there which sound ridiculous but somehow, I think for most of the time, it’s just coincidence. I did try the chinese conception chart and I got tricked too! *lol* That’s why now I only trust the scan….why bother wondering and getting all happy to find out otherwise kan? :) I can’t say I have a preference coz I dont know what its like to have a boy. Guess I’ll know when I do eh? :P

You’re right. Science is more accurate and the baby’s gender is depending on the guy’s sperm type. Well, it’s more fun to find out the gender when the baby’s out! Giving us a surprise ;)
