Sleeping styles dont change

The one thing I absolutely love about babies and this I could do the whole day is just watch them sleep. There’s something just so innocent, simple and warm about watching a baby sleep that gets me all warm and fuzzy inside. I spend a lot of time just watching the girls spend when I’m at the hospital coz there really isn’t anything else to do! *lol* And I tell honestly, I never get sick or bored of doing so. I could sit down all day and do nothing but watching them sleep. And if I’m lucky, I would get a smile or 2. They say that when babies smile in their sleep it means that the angels are playing with them in their dreams. How beautiful is that? :)

To think that I’ll be doing this all over again (in the hospital) in less than 2 months is exciting as it is scary! Yes, while I am all excited to hold a brand new baby in my arms, I have to admit that I am not really looking forward to the birth/labour. No surprise there of course….if only it took just a few blinks and out pops bub, how nice would that be?? *lol* But who am I kidding right? :P Anyway, walking down memory lane and thinking of KR….I thought I’d dig out some old shots of her. It’s true, sleeping styles don’t change.

Bizarre eh? I still catch Arianna sound asleep on her knees like she used to when she was a baby and even KR does that too. All this thanks to Daddy!! :P

Kissing bebe

Would you belive it that in just less than 2 months we’ll be welcoming a new bundle of joy into our lives??? Tis shocking when I think back to the time when we first found about the pregnancy! *lol* I guess the bulk of the time literally zipped past because I spend a chunk of 3 months in Malaysia with Mum and sis. And time truly does fly when you’re having fun.

A quick update on the girls :

Arianna is now 3 years old with a rather wide range of knowledge when it comes to animals but thats what I think coz I have no one else to compare her with. She’s loves singing and catches on to tunes rather quickly. She’s slowly becoming a little diva in that she’s actually quite vain and if I don’t check that, I’ll be having one hell of a drama queen by the time she goes to preschool and that’s just NEXT year!!

KR is now 1 year 5 months old and although a late bloomers in the mobility department, her verbal communication is quite surprising. For most of the time, she understands us quite well and can even tell us quite clearly what she wants. Most surprising is how quick she picks up new words and retains it. She can now count to 10 but missing out a few numbers which I think is quite an achievement!! :)

I took this vid just yesterday and it’s quite clear that she enjoys kissing my belly because it’s “Kiss kiss bebe” for her and love the sound effects too. :) I reckon she’s trying to strike up an alliance with JR so that they can gang up on Arianna when the time comes! *lol* After all, Arianna can be quite the bully IF she wants to.

Giving ‘bebe’ kisses @ 30/08/2010

Finally crawling!!

Compared to Arianna, KR is an extremely late bloomer in all aspects except turning over for the first time and talking. She actually rolled over 2 days prior to turning 4 months – 26/8/2009, hard to forget when it’s the same birthdate as my bestfriends. :P As for talking, she started babbling earlier and now, she picks up words fairly quickly and sometimes, can easily make up 2 to 3 word sentences. For me, that’s pretty good. :)

Anyway, since she only REALLY started crawling here in Kulim…I took this vid. For most times, she would scoot around on her bum and still do sometimes. I reckon this can’t be more than a month ago.

Even here, her crawling is not as smooth BUT she has improved alot.

But want to know a really unusual thing? If you hold her hand, she can walk and walk and walk BUT let go and she freaks out and that’s it. She loses balance, and confidence and wails like mad. The problem is that I reckon she can already walk steadily BUT she has no confidence in even trying. She still holds on to things if she wants to get from one place to another BUT she won’t learn to stand up (by pulling herself up) or to sit down on her own either and I have NO idea how to kick start her confidence level. I always tell her not to worry if she fumbles but apaprently my words are not working it’s magic at all. :( I still keep positive about it but really hoping that she will pick up more confidence soon.

My pill-ow

Every kid I know (including sis and I) have our very own smelly *something*. I had a smelly pillow to help me sleep, sis STILL has her childhood smelly pillow which she is at the very moment cuddling and falling asleep, Arianna has her busuk (smelly) Bear and KR….well, she’s got her very own smelly bolster too. :) TO be honest, she never really got attached to anything until recently. In fact, she could fall asleep quiet easily without any toys in bed and we were fine with it too. Her cot only has toys to keep her company when she wakes up and not the other way around. I fail to understand why parents fill their kids cot with so many toys and expect them to go to bed once they are tucked in. It’s like dangling a steak in front of a lion and asking it not to eat it. Silly in my opinion but lucky for us, it doesn’t work that way with KR.

Anyway, as I mentioned it was only recently that she has taken an attachment to her bolster and now, I realise that she needs it to only fall asleep with which is good. She doesn’t feel the need to bring it with her when we go out – praise God! Unlike Arianna who would never leave home without her Bear. Anyway, for the past week or so, KR has been waking up almost every night around midnight and sometimes, she doesn’t go back to bed so I end up bringing her out to get some fresh air. Arianna was different, if you took her out of the bedroom, you won’t be able to get her back in but KR is different. She is happy to be out of the cot when she’s upset but at the same time, she wouldn’t fuss if you put her back in after 15 minutes or so. Funny how different siblings can be from one another…

Tonight, just like any other night this past week, KR woke up on cue at midnight and while playing on the bed for awhile, Mum told Sis to get her her bolster so that she’d get the idea that it was time for bed. This is the shots I took :

My drug...
Note how wonderous this pillow is to KR….how much she appreciates it…how much she is taking it all in.

My sleeping pill-ow
Yes, this is her sleeping pill-ow. Must smell heavenly….must smell like pure bliss….thank goodness it helps to knock her out too. Heck, it’d knock me out too if I took a really huge whiff! *lol*

So, tell me….do you have a smelly *something*? Don’t be shy…I won’t tell anyone. :P

My cheeky baby (toddler!)

KR has turned out to be quite the cheeky toddler when you least expect it. While I know that praising your kid and bragging about them is not the norm, I have to be honest and say that she definitely picks up pretty quick! I reckon she is a faster learner than Arianna but then again, it took Arianna 2 years before she called me ‘Mummy’!! *lol* Such a wicked child….

Anyway, I captured this on vid when Mum accidently winked at her and since then, she hasn’t stopped making ‘cheeky eyes’ at us!!

Yes, I know she looks very much like a boy – wearing a blue singlet does not help! :P

Look Daddy, I got teeth!!

I can’t believe that we’ve already been here for almost 2 months! 13/6 would sort of mark the actual 2 months that we’ve been here and thinking that I only have 1 month left in Kulim is so devastating!!!! :( While I am very happy to be home here in Kulim, I also sort of miss life back in Sydney…..ok, who am I kidding? I rather be here in Kulim but the problem is, Ted’s not here!!! And that makes it a tough decision as to where my heart is….if anyone were to ask me where is home since home is where the heart is, I couldn’t quite decide, which is rather pitiful if you think about it.

Anyway, as much as I am missing Ted, I reckon the girls especially Arianna miss him heaps more! Heck, Ted’s about ready to jump onto the next plane if he could. Poor Daddy…missing all his girls so much. He’s actually missed their milestones which upsets him tremendously but I am trying my best to keep him updated on all that is happening with the girls. One of the more obvious developments is going on mostly with KR. :) As I’ve mentioned many times before, although she was fast to roll over – just shy of 3 months, everything else took a heck of a long time to happen.

One of the latest thing to happen was her sprouting teeth. Took forever for the bottom ones to come out and the top? Hhhhmmm…that took even longer although you could see how close they were to pushing themselves out. The ridges were so obvious that it drove me nuts to see it so clearly and yet, her teeth just weren’t pushing through. And then suddenly….as if it was an overnight thing, we got this!

Daddy, see my teeth!
Yea, I managed to get this shot while in the midst of looking up some quotes for cheap insurance for a friend of mine! *lol* :P

KR had just woken up from her arvo nap and was as happy as a lark when I took this shot. She was very accomodating and it wasn’t so difficult to get her to open her mouth wide and show me her teeth! :) Ted was really pleased with this shot and I told him to expect more teeth by the time he gets here. In fact, as we speak, her 2 top pinchers are slowly showing too. I reckon they will be out and glaring at Daddy when he arrives at the end of the month! ;)

Mum knows best

For as long as I can remember, both girls sometimes have poo issues. At this point of time, Arianna can go to poo on the throne on her own with a little bit of persuasion but sometimes, she holds it in and won’t go at all even though I know she needs to go from her body language. At one time, she had some poo issues that required us to give her more fruits and veg to help with digestion but now *touch wood*, she seems a lot better.

KR is another story. Around 6 mths or so, she had blood in her stool but any worries were cleared off once we knew it was because she was allergic to cow’s milk and since I was still bf-ing her, I had to stop all dairy products myself. Since then, there has been no blood in her stool although she too had poo issues and would exert to poo. Sometimes she didn’t go for days despite my efforts in increasing her fiber and food intake. But praise God, since we arrived here, she’s been going daily and she doesn’t have to exert much although sometimes I know she’d been working hard from the output. :P

But she sent me into a scare day before when she had a fair bit of blood in her stool but she’s been ok yesterday and today, so I reckon it must be a one off thing although I am keeping my eyes peeled for any unusual behaviour or difference in her poo. Thankfully all is well.

Anyway, my Mum adviced me to give the girls fruits before having their meals as apparently it helps with digestion. To me, I felt that my eating before hand, it would make them full and not want to eat anything else but when I tried it, it worked! I now give the girls apple or grapes or any fruit that we have about 1/2 hr before their meals and then followed by their main meal and surprisingly Arianna, of all people, actually went to the toilet without me having to coax her which is good news to me! :)

So when people say, ‘Mum knows best….’, don’t doubt it!

This is how u do it

Sometimes, Arianna tends to be a little too rough and bullies little KR. But when she’s nice to KR, she’s really, really nice and it’s really cute to see them together. Here is one such precious moment :

This is how you do it....
This is how you do it….

When I first let Arianna play the organ she liked it, it made noises and she could bang it with all her might and we didn’t say anything. *lol* It’s a rather rotten instrument and really, it didn’t hurt plus it was nice watching her have fun. Although she does share, most times she is the taker instead of the giver.

Copy cat in action
In this case, she actually let KR play along-side with her which was a really nice change. This does not happen often!

The girls are really growing up fast. I’m surprised by KR’s vocab because she is definitely picking up words so much faster and clearer than Arianna. Although she doesn’t talk much and is on a rather quiet side, she is a very observant baby. I reckon she is taking in lessons from Arianna – what not to do so that Mummy doesn’t go all crazy and start screaming like a banshee! *lol*

Looking at things, I reckon #2 & #3 will most likely gang up on Arianna once they are big enough. I wonder how Arianna is going to handle them. *lol* She’s definitely going to have her hands full. ;)

A tragic effort on Mommy’s part

KR’s fringer has been long for a very long time now and it’s been disturbing her eyes so I decided to snip a bit off…..apparently I snipped off a wee bit too much. Poor thing looks like Temenggong Jugah now!!!

Not surprisingly, it’s quite easy to find various pix of kids in this similar hair style – just Google it up and you’ll see.

Was finger good
This is Arianna sporting THE cut some time ago.

Sporting a 'Temenggong Jugah' hair style
KR sporting the same….

Sporting a 'Temenggong Jugah' hair style
And another shot for the heck of it!

And to prove that I am not joking, check this out :

This is the actually person. :) Note the similarity?

Thank goodness hair grows….. :P

Little Miss Chatty

Hello Daddy!
“Hello Daddy!!!”

This is KR at 13mths pretending to talk on the phone with Daddy. Despite being almost close to bed time, she was still quite wide awake. Actually, it was because I was busy reading up on some information on children’s multivitamins that I totally lost track of time until Mum reminded me that I had kids to attend to. *LOL* Such a bad Mummy….

Anyway, at 13 mths, she has been doing lots of cute things that toddlers tend to do. She seems to be able to pick up new words relatively fast and retains them too. I think it’s excellent since I am making full use of this time to reach her some Bahasa Malaysia words. :) And like Arianna, she is already using them regularly.

On the walking and crawling front, she hasn’t really officially crawled or walked yet but she has been trying quite hard to do so on the bed and in her walker, she is the speed demon! She spends most of her time in there during the day which in my condition, it is actually a blessing. ;)

Can you imagine me and my bump running after a speeding walker? Omg….the thought itself gives me the shivers. Although its been just a few weeks that the girls havent seen their dad, I am constantly reminding them how he looks like by pointing to our wedding pic in the hall and I am glad to say that they both have not forgotten him. :) We all miss him a lot and I’m sure the girls will be thrilled to see him more clearly on this new webcam that I am sending him tomorrow. :D
