Practising child labour

I finally found something for Arianna to do that kept her occupied for at least one hour!!!

Peeling buah petai
Yes!!! Peeling the rather smelly but oh so delish, buah petai. :D

Actually, I didnt think that she’d want to do it so I just casually asked her if she wanted to help me and whaddaya know, she actually sat there and peeled the lot!!! The more, the merrier I say. :D Because she was having so much fun peeling the petai, Mum cooked up my absolute fav : Sambal petai masak ikan masin!!! That’s spicy sauce cooked with saled dried fish and petai – thank goodness I am not on a diet!!! I had this for lunch AND dinner!! :D

Sambal petai ikan masin
So thank you, my darling….Mummy was most happy today. Heh.

Never too late

I guess this must run in the family….my kids all started walking late. Arianna is perhaps the best despite only turning over at nearly 8 months. Brandon is currently holding the record! To be honest, he has only RECENTLY started rolling over by himself. While he is able to scoot around on his bum and pull himself up, he has never made any attempt to roll over despite our continuous encouragement ie. loads of tummy time and helping/teaching him to roll over. I dont know what to say about that really. So while his arms and legs are somewhat strong, it’s only now that he making a little bit more effort to roll over.

I reckon that although he is capable of rolling over by himself, he hasn’t quite figured out how to coordinate so that he can roll over. However, once he does roll over he is quick to push himself up and sit up – that I find totally weird and bizarre! And you can literally see how proud he is of himself for being able to do it! lol Very cute….

Anyhoo, I managed to take this vid of him in the walker FINALLY walking after at least 3 weeks of not even trying to move forward. All he did when we put him in there was to whine and cry as if we’ve abandoned him or something. But I think he’s figured out the “power” of the walker and now, he is more happy to be in it! Moving forward more than backwards….that’s progress to me!

Unwrapped he is

I honestly meant to blog about this wonderful development when it happened but omg, life has been hectic since the day we arrived!!! If you’ve been following my blog, you would have noticed that I’ve been stressing out about Brandon not being able to fall asleep unless he is wrapped.

Friends on FB mentioned that it was nothing to worry about – a friend’s son was wrapped till he was 2! So with those comments I read, I was a little relief. But today, I am over the moon because Brandon is no longer wrapped and it was something that REALLY happened overnight. Despite the many advices to take things slow, I think my kids are the kind that just need to be dump in the deep end of a pool!

It all happened when we went visiting my uncle. The kids still had not gotten over the time change and so with the 3 hour difference, I think they were enjoying their ‘late nights’ out. Aside from the fact that they met their second cousins for the first time, they had loads of fun playing and stuffing their face with cookies. lol So all that sugar really had them bouncing off the walls. It was almost 11pm when we left for home and close to midnight by the time we reached home so bubba was TOTALLY knackered!

Sis was holding him so he fell asleep in her arms and even when she put him to bed, he didnt stir at all. So she pretty much just put to bed as is – without wrapping him. I thought that he would notice it and wake up but he didnt! :D Since that day, he has been unwrapped. I wasnt sure at first if that was how it was but I just didnt wrap him when I put him to bed and it worked!!

So a huge huge thank you to sis/Godma for making this happen!! :D It’s been at least a few weeks now and looks like we wont be turning back – we now have a bear, a pillow and a blankey as comfort items! lol :P

Happy 1st Birthday Brandon!

Today, my little tiger cub celebrated his first birthday! :D Seems just like yesterday that I was carrying him home from the hospital all tiny and snug as a bug! Today, he’s this darling little fella…with chompers! lol :P Being a weekday, we didnt have any party for him but looks like there might be one over the weekend.

Godma (the pretend chef) made his cake and it turned out great! Thank you so much Godma….

The walger (walrus-tiger) cake that Godma made. It was meant to be a tiger cake but since we couldnt get cupcakes to make the ears, sis did her best and I think it looks great!

Although Daddy isnt here to celebrate this big day with you, know that he was and is thinking of you on this special day. And as we sang the birthday song for you, we were thinking of Daddy too. We miss you, Daddy…..cant wait to see you!

Potty progress

So where are we with Arianna’s potty training? Well, I am somewhat confident that she can now go to the loo on her own and during her arvo nap, she actually gets up to go to the loo if she needs to. I am actually quite impressed at how fast she catched on to the idea. I’m thinking that we might actually take the plunge and let her go nappyless even at night.

And even if she does wet her bed, we’ll take it as a lesson learnt and I’m sure knowing her, it wouldnt take long for her to realise that she either has to get up to use the loo OR just hold it in. Either way, I think we should bite the bullet. That’s how it is with Arianna. We’ve even managed to be at MIL’s place for the day without nappies so I can definitely see the light at the end of this tunnel. :)

I know most parents will take it step by step but each child is different and I feel with Arianna, you gotta take the bull by the horns. KR is a whole new different case. With her, despite being little miss independant, she is not good with taking the plunge on anything new. So I think I’ll give PT another go with her when we are in Kulim.

Almost 11 months

I don’t have much to update about Brandon really. After you get to #3, he’s lucky I’m still taking pix of him! :P On the average, he is sitting up almost all the time that he has been bumscooting now for quite sometime. I am somewhat ashamed to say this coz I think its odd and I reckon other people will think the same but at this point in time, he has not rolled over yet. *shakes head* I don’t know why he wont even try and if I try to roll him on his stomach, he screams bloody murder!

He absolutely hates tummy time and this has been since he was an infant. Almost 1 and he has no way of getting into the sitting down position if we dont put him up. *sigh* I really dont know what to do but aside from that he has 3.5 teeth sprouting on the bottom and 2 visible teeth on the top. This time around, we didnt bother with any Panadol or painkillers or Bonjela or whatever. I personally reckon that it’s best to just let bub deal with it his way, and have us as support should he need extra hugs and cuddles. So far, he’s dealt with it really well.

I think these 2 have a special bond… :) Aside from the fact that they both have my round face – there’s just something about them. :)

So while I am still trying to *teach* him how to roll over, someone is already able to pull himself up on things. *shakes head*

Jabbed

Today, Arianna went for her 4 years old jabs. Ted took her to the docs and since we had stacked our car, they took the bus. So Arianna had a nice day out before getting jabbed. A small dose of cheerfulness to help with the pain, I suppose.

4 yrs old jabs
Poor thing apparently took it very well. No crying, no whinging…no nothing. I am very proud of her. :)

I reckon she’ll be like me – immune to pain! lol And its not really such a bad thing on the whole. At least getting 2 jelly beans and a stamp on her hand was worth it all. Currently, she weights 22kg and is 110cm tall. My baby girl is growing up too fast before my very eyes…..

4 years old today!

Today my baby girl turned 4! Seem just like yesterday that I was walking into the labour room and was telling my mum that the pain I had was like period pain. lol Little did I know it was going to get oh so much worst! :P And despite Arianna being the smallest full term baby in the nursery, after 3 kids I’m so darn glad they increased in size gradually. Her birth story here.

Here’s a quick walk down memory lane :

This year, we decided to get her more educational toys hence the Leapfrog Tag system.

Yes, someone just fresh out of bed and straight into her pressies. She was over the moon with it which is a good thing.

Coming up is a pix I am not particulalar proud of. Mind you, it’s a my personal achievement because I don’t bake. So technicall this is my first ever decorated birthday cake. (So no laughing!)

CIMG2570
Looks like an absolute mess to me but thank goodness my kids are easy to please! lol :P Arianna picked it at the shops – chocholate cake from a box. :P

Plate all clean! ^.^

Then it was off to Grandma’s :

CIMG2586
She was totally spoiled!

Grandma and Grandpa got her a mini laptop and she’s been glued to it ever since it was opened and Uncle William got her some classic Aussie tales which she cant read right now but is definitely a keeper.

All in all, I think she had a great day. Tomorrow, we’re off to some playland. It’s going to be a blast! :) Soooo……

Happy birthday, baby girl!! Know that despite the numerous times I wanted to sell you off on eBay and on some days I was willing to give you away for free (throw KR in as a bonus), I cannot imagine not having you in our lives. You complete our family and we love you so much, words cannot describe it at all. Here’s wishing you all the happiness, blessings and best this life has to offer you. God bless you, my darling Arianna….xoxoxo

Meal time misery

When I logged on tonight, I was meant to check out some low cost life insurance, instead I found myself distracted and went on a frenzy looking for wholesome and simple recipes for bub. You’d think that after having 2 kids before him, I should know what to do and what to feed him. But I don’t!

In fact, I think I’m doing worst with him than with the girls!! And I wholely blame it on me. :( I suck at time management and when that is coupled with no imagination when it comes to making baby food interesting and tasty, the result is simply a major headache. I’ll have to step up though, he’ll be heading for a growth spurt soon and Mama’s milk is just for top-ups these days. *sigh*

9 months

Brandon has spent equal time in the womb as he has outside. :P Touching the 9 months marks now and I still cannot believe it. He is an absolute darling and some may think that I’m bias coz I’m his mum but I dont really care. :P I’m entitled to say it so I will.

Latest pix taken are from our trip into the city (see next post) :

The main reason I have so many of the *same* shot is because I could decide on one. :P Plus its mainly for Nanna.

Hanging on for dear life
Finally a funny shot of the little man hanging on for dear life. What I didn’t notice or thought of was him flicking the bird! >.<
