Celebrating Christmas

Christmas morning came and suprisingly the kids actually slept in! lol Guess it was Santa’s pre-Christmas gift to me that I got a bit of a sleep in too. :P

The first thing Arianna (Ms. Selective Eagle Eye Vision) noticed were the stockings and I am amazed at the level of patience these kids have! They saw the stockings and when I told them to wait (coz I had to use the bathroom first – PRIORITIES!!), Arianna very patiently told the other 2 that they had to wait for me, and they did. Simply AMAZING! lol

Then I got into position to snap the photos. :)

Christmas 2012
Our Christmas tree and pressies : We have a bit of a sad story this year – we ‘lost’ ALL our Christmas decor so this year, only Ted’s office Christmas tree had the responsibility of being THE Chritmas tree for the family. It did its job well but it also means that I dont have to ‘take down Christmas decor’ either. :P

Christmas 2012
Brandon got bored – he missed out on a few and didnt notice that he had more to open! LOL

After the presents, we rushed through brekkier and headed off to Grandma’s. On the way there, Arianna told me that she ‘heard’ Santa wrapping the presents last night. LOL I told her that she was a good girl not to come out to spy on Santa or he would have left and taken the presents with him. :P I have also told them (upon ‘advise’ from a friend) that Santa watches their every move with a camera aka the fire alarm’s blinking lights and that if they were naughty, they’d get coal instead of pressies for Christmas. It worked for awhile but not sure if it will for the next year or so. And I also forgot to make it more realistic by adding a piece of coal or two!

Anyway, at Grandma’s more toys and pressies of course and in my MIL’s style, she ‘fed’ me well.

IMG_20121225_133744[1]
A WHOLE turkey thigh and white meat with potatoes. Thank goodness she forgot the peas!! And as the entree, we all had prawn salad – I was so stuffed that day, which is the normal feeling of course. I was so over meat that day that I only had a few slices of bread and a papaya for dinner! lol

She also gave us the balance leg of ham that yielded 8 lots of carved ham that I’ve put in the freezer and what was left of the turkey which is almost half a bird. I AM SO OVER CHRISTMAS FOOD though I am looking foward to stuffing my face silly with the ham – I’ll be honest and say that I pinched a few pieces already. I love the ham that Ma gets so I couldnt resist it!! lol

The kids got more pressies of course but their fav (and mine too) is this tent that Uncle William got them. It’s apparently the #1 toy in the market now and sold out, so he was lucky to have placed an order early November! lol It’s called the Glow Crazy Doodle Dome. It’s a black tent that comes with an ultraviolet pen which you use to draw inside the tent so no mess on the walls. Really cool idea and the kids love it especially Arianna, of course! She likes the idea of the drawing and the other 2 just like the idea of the tent, so it works out quite well.

Me? I like it when they ALL disappear into it and stay there for awhile – it’s pure bliss to me. If only I could permanently sew down the opening to the tent! lol :P

Where are they??

Then they all disappear…. :P

Hope you all had a good Christmas, while we celebrated it with family this year, we miss having Dad around to celebrate it with us. I’m sure he was looking down on us while we ate and open pressies, all the while thinking of him. We miss you, Dad….

Merry Christmas 2012!

Merry Christmas from all of us, to all of you!!

**I wasnt suppose to be in the pix but Brandon freaked out so, there’s me!**

Little man turns 2!

Sometimes I cannot believe how fast time flies!

Hi, I'm Brandon! I'm #3.
2 years ago – I brought this little cutie back home from hospital…

 Big boy now!
And then he suddenly turned 1!

Today, I find out that he’s turned 2….

Brandon's 2nd birthday
Seen here with a head full of hair that he didnt have at birth! lol

And then the vulture swoops in…. :P

It’s been a rather interesting journey for us. He is an absolutely adorable and loving child and although I am his mother, I am not being bias – truly! He is generous with his hugs, sharing his toys with the girls (though he is quite possessive when it comes to the pram and a certain bashed up almost torn to pieces video box he uses as a hat) and definitely loves his sister (when he isnt being annoying or irritated by them) – very helpful too. As Ted says, he is indeed the best little man! :)

Happy Birthday, Brandon! May the good Lord shower you with His blessing and love always. We love you, little man – Love, Daddy, Mummy, Arianna & Kathleen-Rose!

Another year gone by

And as the years add on, the memory diminishes! :/ And that is why this post is coming up so late. Lol Aside from the fact that I forgot to put these up, I also had no time. Trying to juggle work life and craft life is not easy – throw in family life and you have chaos! Hats off to Lisa (an online friend) who runs a VERY successful fabric business from home ALL BY HERSELF and also able to keep a household running AND study too. How that woman does it is beyond me but she is truly an inspiration.

So what happened on my birthday? Nothing much really. I got a really cool souvenir jersey of Hindy (NRL Parramatta Eels) coz he retired and I’m loving it!! Then it was off to lunch with MIL at a chinese restaurant in Carlingford, Top Taste Restaurant.

Birthdays dont so much for me these days. It seems to be just another day and a reminder that I’m getting older (and hopefully wiser) but I guess it is also a celebration of all the things I’ve accomplished in life. I may not be the PM or a CEO of some big ass company and my career aint all that fancy but I am happy where I am. I have a happy and healthy little brood, a man who loves me as I am (shape AND size, and all the crazy things I do that drive him up the wall), enough food on the table and a roof over my head that provides me with the security I need to feel complete and safe.

If you ask me what I wished for on my birthday…didnt wish for anything really. What do you wish for when you already have everything you need? Ok – maybe winning the Lotto would be the icing on the cake but I’m good. Really. :)

Happy 34th Birthday to me.

Father’s Day 2012

Last week was Father’s Day – unlike in Malaysia, it is celebrated in September instead of Jun here in Australia. This year marks Te’d 5th Father’s Day and I guess he’s lucky that he escape getting undies and ties and singlets! lol

I had bought him a keyholder coz his old one was falling apart and also a Parramatta Eels Ezy Freeze Pilsner – simply put it in the freezer and he can have any of his warm fizzy drinks or beers chilled in minutes! I had the kids march in, with one present each with Brandon holding the card of course, in a row with me bringing him brekkie in bed. No, sadly I didnt go the whole hog and make him pancakes or anything fancy of that sort – I’m no model wife, trust me! All he got was coffee and raisin toast – but in bed. :P

And then for lunch, we went to a recommended Lebanese restaurant – Al-Arzah. First impression we got when we walked in was, ‘Omg, what a dodgy place!!’ coz no one was there despite it being Father’s Day but I’ve learned that you never, EVER judge a place by the looks of it – well, you can sometimes but this time, we were dead wrong!! The food was FAB!!! Who ever knew that a Falafel roll could taste so good?! lol :P I was totally impressed and will definitely be going there again. After all, when it comes to food – I dont really care how bad the place looks like as long as the food is good, I will go!

Cheeks n Paccas : Our new baby

Welcome to our newest baby – our very own online fabric store :

Cheeks n Paccas

So why “Cheeks n Paccas”? Well, if you know us well enough, these are the nicknames that we have given the girls when they were babies. But till now, the nick still sticks and more often than not, they still answer to it. :) We do hope you will stop and have a peek – be sure to bring a friend (or 2 or more) along!

To celebrate this launching, we are currently having 10% off all the fabrics in our store for the week. So be sure you check it out!

Christmas in Kulim

Nothing beats spending Christmas with the people you love. To me, Christmas is about family….about giving. And FOOD! :P Yup, nothing screams Christmas more than food and when the family gets together…… o boy! :)

The last Christmas I was here, it was in 2008 – just before KR was born. Since then, I havent really gone back for Christmas. Hence this year was very special to me because I got to spend both Christmas AND New Year in Kulim. *happy happy joy joy* Without further ado, let’s let the pix do the talking. :)

The Wedding Part 3 : Church ceremony & reception

On 26/11/2011, the church service took place at our parish, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Kulim at 4pm. The chaos (as usual) started the night before. The bride went to bed at 5am (yes, that in the morning) because she had to re-do her seating list as some very senseless people decided that they couldnt make it for the wedding reception on the eve of the whole celebration via FB. How considerate, dont you think? (NOT!) Anyhow, the morning started off quite calm but as the time came closer, things started to get really tensed and stressed. Despite getting the kids ready by 1.30pm…..at 3.15pm, I was still running around without my make-up! :/ And I had to be in church early coz I was the Matron of Honour. But praise God, despite all the hoo-haa, all was well except that we “lost” one flowergirl, KR. *slaps forehead* She refused to walk down the aisle as we had practiced the night before and to a certain extend I can understand why all 3 of my kids were very unsettled and fussed that weekend – they all had caught the cold and had fever. :( My poor babies……given the choice, I would not have attended but it was my sister (only) wedding and I wouldnt have missed it for the world! Just a sad thing that the kids had to suffer.

But all’s well, ends well. :)

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Mo!!! :)

The wedding reception took place at Hotel Royal (formally known as Sheraton) in Penang. I was dreading the drive coz I wasnt sure where it was. But I followed my gut instinct and thank goodness we did end up at the right place.

All in all, it was a good night but I had to leave early as Brandon and KR were getting restless and getting all whingy. :( I did miss taking pix with Yvette which is a sad thing so hopefully we’ll catch up during Christmas. :)

Congratulation to Mo and Yvette, I wish you many years of wedded bliss, love, peace, happiness & prosperity. May the Lord journey with you on this new road trip and keep you on the right path as you begin your new life together.

*A big thank you to my cousin, Alvin Gomez for taking these lovely shots. :)

The Wedding Part 2 : Hindu Ceremony

This colorful and loud ceremony took place in Klang. I was so glad that we had put up at Prescott Hotel just down the road from the hall! I cannot imagine driving in town at night, at a place I am unfamiliar with. The whole ceremony took almost 2 hours – it was long and loud as the drum and what seems to me like a trumpet like instrument played throughout the ceremony. Sis had to change into another saree half way through – I’m so glad she has perfected the art of tying the saree without looking in the mirror. Her next challenge is to tie a saree in the dark or blindfolded! lol :P

Here comes the bride!

Waiting for the moment...
Note the change of sarees – here they are waiting for the moment to tie the thali

Tying the thali
Yay, almost married here! :) Mo wanted to tie it before the specific time. lol Guess he couldnt wait any longer. :P

Washing Mum's feet
As a sign of respect and to thank Mum for everything she has given and done, Yvette must wash her feet.

After tying the thali, dinner was served and soon after, people started to make their way up the stage to congratulate the newly weds. There are more photos aside from this which I will upload once I get my hands on them but this will have to suffice for now. :)

The Wedding Part 1 : On the way to Klang & Nalangu

Yvette and Mo got married in a Hindu ceremony in Klang on 20/11/2011. This is us making our way to Klang on 19/11/2011. It was my first ever drive to Klang so I was totally stressed out but all turned out well. :)

Brandon & Uncle Velu
Here we are at the bride’s “home” – since we are not really Klang people, Uncle Velu & wife became Yvette’s parents.

The following morning, Yvette’s nalunggu took place. The main reason why this is done is to cleanse and ward off evil spirits. While some bride may have to go through this between 3 to 5 days, we got a discount and only did it on the morning of the wedding. :P

Being the sister, I had to also perform this act. It was the first time I had ever done it and I felt so out of place doing it! lol :P But thankfully, I didnt screw up.
