Today marks the starting of many years of education for Arianna. Yes, her first step into the world of schooling and man, was she excited!! We got her registered in a school that was pretty just walking distance from home so that I (the license-less one) can walk and fetch her after school. It goes on from 9am to 3pm so there’s quite a few hours not having her at home.
Of course all the excitement was very nearly washed out when she refused to have her brekkie and had me and Ted screaming at her to hurry up. But since we were planning to go a bit late to avoid the rush hour where parents were dropping off their kids and all, it worked out fine.

Right outside her preschool, it’s an Anglican one.
Of course, KR wanted to also go to preschool and is here giving Arianna support, not that she needed it.

The fakest smile ever just so I would get off her back and she could dash in and start playing.
Once we went in, we had to show her where the toilet was, where to put her bag (each child is designated a hook to hang their bag and they identify these hooks by unique pictures. Arianna’s was an umbrella) and where we put her lunch, the fridge that is. Overall, my initial impression of the place was positive – it gave me good vibes.
But I wasnt impressed after that. When I went to fetch Arianna home, I had asked how she did and the staff there told me she did great – happy to play with others and also by herself. She had made herself a bead necklace and did 2 paintings. Pity they were wet so we’ll take it home next week. I asked about lunch and they said she had some but when we came home and I checked her box, it was still filled with the sandwich I made her and her water was still full. I can only hope that they had refilled her water and the 2 fruits I gave her was enough. They do have morning tea where the kids have fruit so I dont really know what happened there. That’s the only thing that I am not happy about.
That said, Arianna is really happy about going to preschool and we’ve decided to send her for 2 days a week. So hopefully there will be a spot for her but we have yet to hear back from the school. As for KR, we’re also now thinking about sending her as well since she is so into it. There is another one down the road as well so I can always drop them off and pick them up again.
ohmigosh they look soooo big in that picture!!! and the school looks awesome yea? we’re sending gibran to a pretty established school so his is pretty alright but it comes with a (gulp) somewhat hefty price tag. the cheaper schools are so dodgy looking, some don’t even have a lawn/play area. how can, kan??
err just wanted to say that the initial few weeks in school will be a bit problematic where food is concern (from my experience) bcoz kids just get too distracted to eat sometimes. esp with friends around. i think it took gibran a couple of weeks to come to terms with the fact that he’s gota eat and drink else he’d go hungry and it took me even longer to get used to the idea that in school he’ll eat when he’s hungry and if he is hungry.. so once in a while when i see his snack untouched i try not to get too worried.
awwww….thanks for that!! i really needed to hear it coz its so scary to know that ur kid is not eaten the whole day. kesian wei…..more so when they are up n abt playing all the time. from 9-3pm dok main, then tak mau balik. omg….where they get their energy from Lord knows la….lol
