Children were made for this

One weekend, it was hot and Ted decided that he’d wash the car at MIL’s. Since the kids were up to it, we decided to put them to good use! :P

Everyone had to do their fair share of course.

Even Brandon!

Of course Brandon had to also taste what the hose was like since he had a go at the water that was coming out of it. :P

Yummy hose!

First day at preschool

Today marks the starting of many years of education for Arianna. Yes, her first step into the world of schooling and man, was she excited!! We got her registered in a school that was pretty just walking distance from home so that I (the license-less one) can walk and fetch her after school. It goes on from 9am to 3pm so there’s quite a few hours not having her at home.

Of course all the excitement was very nearly washed out when she refused to have her brekkie and had me and Ted screaming at her to hurry up. But since we were planning to go a bit late to avoid the rush hour where parents were dropping off their kids and all, it worked out fine.

First day at preschool
Right outside her preschool, it’s an Anglican one.

First day at preschoolOf course, KR wanted to also go to preschool and is here giving Arianna support, not that she needed it.

First day at preschool
The fakest smile ever just so I would get off her back and she could dash in and start playing.

Once we went in, we had to show her where the toilet was, where to put her bag (each child is designated a hook to hang their bag and they identify these hooks by unique pictures. Arianna’s was an umbrella) and where we put her lunch, the fridge that is. Overall, my initial impression of the place was positive – it gave me good vibes.

But I wasnt impressed after that. When I went to fetch Arianna home, I had asked how she did and the staff there told me she did great – happy to play with others and also by herself. She had made herself a bead necklace and did 2 paintings. Pity they were wet so we’ll take it home next week. I asked about lunch and they said she had some but when we came home and I checked her box, it was still filled with the sandwich I made her and her water was still full. I can only hope that they had refilled her water and the 2 fruits I gave her was enough. They do have morning tea where the kids have fruit so I dont really know what happened there. That’s the only thing that I am not happy about.

That said, Arianna is really happy about going to preschool and we’ve decided to send her for 2 days a week. So hopefully there will be a spot for her but we have yet to hear back from the school. As for KR, we’re also now thinking about sending her as well since she is so into it. There is another one down the road as well so I can always drop them off and pick them up again.

I have a dream

I had a dream recently….I saw before me, a beach or lake and the kids were playing nearby and me, I was sitting in this absolutely gorgeous cedar Adirondack chair sipping my absolute fav drink, lemon lime bitters.

It was a lovely spring day and the sun was shinning…it was perfect. Of course, before anything more could happen, Brandon started crying and that sent me jumping out of bed. But I could never forget what I saw in my dream and one day, I hope to make that dream come true. But the difference is, it will be a reality and not just a dream….imagine having a home by the beach or by the lake, Lake Como to be precise. HHmmm…..I could wave at George Clooney over the fence. :P

Nothing is impossible – I m possible!

I miss my 8hr sleep

After 3 kids, I am so used to not getting the proper 8hrs of sleep. I reckon I do better when I sleep less and I cannot figure out the reason why. If I sleep too much, I get a major backache. I rather sleep a little less at night and try to get in a nap during the day.

The kids on the other hand have not suffered much where sleep is concerned but I do wish that Brandon would sleep right through as the girls are. He is slowly getting there but too slow for me! We’re thinking of moving him into a bigger cot but then again, perhaps we should just get a single bed for KR and then move him into her current cot. We havent really decided but Ted’s been reading articles about Sleep number beds and perhaps he can find something that would be suitable for her.

Cheeks n Paccas : Our new baby

Welcome to our newest baby – our very own online fabric store :

Cheeks n Paccas

So why “Cheeks n Paccas”? Well, if you know us well enough, these are the nicknames that we have given the girls when they were babies. But till now, the nick still sticks and more often than not, they still answer to it. :) We do hope you will stop and have a peek – be sure to bring a friend (or 2 or more) along!

To celebrate this launching, we are currently having 10% off all the fabrics in our store for the week. So be sure you check it out!

Will the boy play drums?

From all the banging he’s been doing on our antique furniture particularly, I’d say yes! :P Not too long ago when we found out that we were going to have a baby boy, my Mum was telling me how we could form our own band. :P

I’d play the organ, Ted on guitars, the girls on piano and Brandon could play the drums. We could get him some Zildjian Drumsticks! :P

I think it’s a fantastic idea but I’d prefer to not play in a band coz I have been down that road before and it was too stressful for me. I prefer to be in the crowd and scream my lungs out. Heh.

A breakthrough finally

It’s been a long and tough journey but I do hope to see the end of the tunnel in a week or so. I’ve been trying to toilet train KR for as long as I can remember and more often than not, it has been unsuccessful. To console myself, I remind myself that perhaps she is not ready – after all that is the most used reason as to why it doesnt work on kids.

I have always blamed myself for trying to start TT with KR too early and that is why I dont keep at it, fearing that it would put pressure on her and she might not do it at all. But since yesterday, my efforts and persistence is slowly paying off.

Although I had to sternly coax her (force her really) to use the potty, she did a few tiny wees which I was quite happy with. But she finally did a proper one today and so far, no accidents! :) So there is progress although not far along, we’ll get there soon enough. She is still in diapers during nap time but that will take time for now, I’m glad that at least we’re down to one less nappy. :)

As for Arianna, she is fully nappyless during the day but not at night. I might start her night time training this week seeing that she starts preschool on Wednesday. O the jitters!!

To infinity and beyond!

That is Arianna’s mantra ever since we got her her school bag yesterday. O.o I’m so over Buzz Lightyear….EVERY SINGLE thing is Buzz Lightyear this, Buzz Lightyear that. Lord!!!

Yesterday being late night shopping, we went out and bought her a new bag coz when she starts preschool, they have to bring along with them aside from their lunch, a change of clothes so her Pooh bag is too small hence this new bag. With it, we also got her a raincoat since we’ll be walking back from school – Ted will send her in the morning and I will fetch her back in the arvo. School hours are from 9am to 3pm…odd but meh, it’s only once a week for now.

She is uber excited about school which is an excellent thing but I cannot say much about her carrying on about it the WHOLE day and wanting to go to school 24/7. It was sweet and cute in the beginning but now it’s just annoying! She’s filled her back with blocks and some tiny toys but I have warned her that we cant bring those toys to school. I hope she gets that when the time comes coz she does get clingy to ideas once it’s put into her head ie. the Buzz Lightyear bag that Ted suggested we get along with other choices such as princesses (Thank goodness she didnt pick that one!), Thomas Tank and Dora.

I’m actually quite glad she picked Toy Story and for her raincoat she picked Lighting McQueen. Heh….love my non-gender bias girl!!

For the record, I woke up to see her standing outside our room with her bag on and about to say, ‘To infinity and beyond’ but I told her to hush coz bub was still asleep. Talk about euthusiam and excitement!

Piano vs Organ

They say that the best time to teach children is right up to 7 years old. Those are the foundation years and we as parents should capitalized on it. As a child, my parents sent me for organ lessons and I enjoyed it. I dont think I had the talent to play well but I did enjoy myself at the classes. Of course it got harder as my grades increased. I finally stopped my music lessons when I was about 12 years old.

Given the choice, I’d like the girls to take up music lessons too and we did consider getting one of those Suzuki digital pianos because it is not as bulky as the other pianos you get. If you ask me why the piano? Well, although I took up the organ, I was always impressed by pianist. I think the piano sounds so much nicer too! :)

Look who’s going to preschool!

Omg, I am still in shock to think that Arianna will soon be starting preschool. And “soon” here means NEXT week!!! Yes, my (not so) little girl will start her first day at preschool on 22/2/2012. I still cannot believe how quick that is. Ted took her today to check the preschool out and they only have one opening which is every Wednesday so we took it. Not too sure how it works here in Oz but apparently bookings have to be made and loads of “pre” things to be done. Would be so much easy if you could just walk in and register your kid, eh? Anyway, we got her registered at St. Anne’s Preschool, which is an Anglican preschool – the Catholic school didnt have preschool but I think once she starts “big school”, we may enrol her there. They are both walking distance from our place.

Anyway, Ted is feeling positive about the whole idea and I am slowly warming up to it too but am still VERY nervous about it. My concern is not that Arianna cannot fit in or anything like that. She is rather sociable like me and seems to be able to adapt to her surrounding quite quickly and apparently was very excited about the sandpit that she saw at preschool. I am stressing out about her meals. And yes, I am solely to be blamed for it because of the Asian in me. I still literally spoon feed the kids so as to make my life easier but I see now why they need to be more independant. *sigh* Although Arianna is able to each on her own, the mess….OMG. Hence I often go back to just feeding them myself to avoid the mess.

Now, I’ve got to check out possible lunch box meals that she will eat else she’ll go hungry for sure. *sigh* Cannot believe she is already going to school!!! Even though its only once a week.
