The Wedding Part 3 : Church ceremony & reception

On 26/11/2011, the church service took place at our parish, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Kulim at 4pm. The chaos (as usual) started the night before. The bride went to bed at 5am (yes, that in the morning) because she had to re-do her seating list as some very senseless people decided that they couldnt make it for the wedding reception on the eve of the whole celebration via FB. How considerate, dont you think? (NOT!) Anyhow, the morning started off quite calm but as the time came closer, things started to get really tensed and stressed. Despite getting the kids ready by 1.30pm…..at 3.15pm, I was still running around without my make-up! :/ And I had to be in church early coz I was the Matron of Honour. But praise God, despite all the hoo-haa, all was well except that we “lost” one flowergirl, KR. *slaps forehead* She refused to walk down the aisle as we had practiced the night before and to a certain extend I can understand why all 3 of my kids were very unsettled and fussed that weekend – they all had caught the cold and had fever. :( My poor babies……given the choice, I would not have attended but it was my sister (only) wedding and I wouldnt have missed it for the world! Just a sad thing that the kids had to suffer.

But all’s well, ends well. :)

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Mo!!! :)

The wedding reception took place at Hotel Royal (formally known as Sheraton) in Penang. I was dreading the drive coz I wasnt sure where it was. But I followed my gut instinct and thank goodness we did end up at the right place.

All in all, it was a good night but I had to leave early as Brandon and KR were getting restless and getting all whingy. :( I did miss taking pix with Yvette which is a sad thing so hopefully we’ll catch up during Christmas. :)

Congratulation to Mo and Yvette, I wish you many years of wedded bliss, love, peace, happiness & prosperity. May the Lord journey with you on this new road trip and keep you on the right path as you begin your new life together.

*A big thank you to my cousin, Alvin Gomez for taking these lovely shots. :)

The Wedding Part 2 : Hindu Ceremony

This colorful and loud ceremony took place in Klang. I was so glad that we had put up at Prescott Hotel just down the road from the hall! I cannot imagine driving in town at night, at a place I am unfamiliar with. The whole ceremony took almost 2 hours – it was long and loud as the drum and what seems to me like a trumpet like instrument played throughout the ceremony. Sis had to change into another saree half way through – I’m so glad she has perfected the art of tying the saree without looking in the mirror. Her next challenge is to tie a saree in the dark or blindfolded! lol :P

Bride's arrival
Here comes the bride!

Waiting for the moment...
Note the change of sarees – here they are waiting for the moment to tie the thali

Tying the thali
Yay, almost married here! :) Mo wanted to tie it before the specific time. lol Guess he couldnt wait any longer. :P

Washing Mum's feet
As a sign of respect and to thank Mum for everything she has given and done, Yvette must wash her feet.

After tying the thali, dinner was served and soon after, people started to make their way up the stage to congratulate the newly weds. There are more photos aside from this which I will upload once I get my hands on them but this will have to suffice for now. :)

The Wedding Part 1 : On the way to Klang & Nalangu

Yvette and Mo got married in a Hindu ceremony in Klang on 20/11/2011. This is us making our way to Klang on 19/11/2011. It was my first ever drive to Klang so I was totally stressed out but all turned out well. :)

Umah & Brandon
Surprisingly, Brandon took well to those who wanted to carry him. He seems good with strangers! Not too sure if its a good or bad thing. :P Here he is with Umah.

Brandon & Uncle Velu
Here we are at the bride’s “home” – since we are not really Klang people, Uncle Velu & wife became Yvette’s parents.

The following morning, Yvette’s nalunggu took place. The main reason why this is done is to cleanse and ward off evil spirits. While some bride may have to go through this between 3 to 5 days, we got a discount and only did it on the morning of the wedding. :P

Being the sister, I had to also perform this act. It was the first time I had ever done it and I felt so out of place doing it! lol :P But thankfully, I didnt screw up.

Too long, too quiet

It’s been SO long since I updated this blog. To be honest, its only now that I can finally sit down and surf the net in peace. Prior to this, everyone was busy preparing for my sis wedding. Now it is all done, we can finally relax! :) I’ll be uploading some pix of the wedding for remembrance sake. Tune in! :)

Suicidal baby

Like most kids, Arianna is very protective of her Bear. If anyone takes it, she will get so upset, it’s just best to leave the beast alone, iykwim. And just like any toddler, Brandon tends to go for things that they girls are playing with just to try and be part of what everyone else is doing and more often than not, his presence is mostly unwanted. Poor thing!

So he gets the boot and most times, a whack on the head…..*sigh* The other thing he enjoys doing is grabbing personal toys that are not his but how is he to know right? Wrong! He knows because, when he took Bear the other day, and I told him not to….he grinned at me – o, that grin was so evil, it was just too funny. It was most suicidal on his part though. Here’s what he did :

Suicidal
Found Bear unattended – grabbed it….

Suicidal
Took a great big sniff of it coz he doesnt get a chance to even get close enough to touch Bear

Suicidal
And an even bigger sniff – one for the road! lol :P

It wasnt long after that Arianna noticed that her Bear was missing and Brandon was holding it hostage. Needless to say, it didnt take much from her to get it back. But Brandon didnt mind – he already had his way with Bear! LOL :P

Practising child labour

I finally found something for Arianna to do that kept her occupied for at least one hour!!!

Peeling buah petai
Yes!!! Peeling the rather smelly but oh so delish, buah petai. :D

Actually, I didnt think that she’d want to do it so I just casually asked her if she wanted to help me and whaddaya know, she actually sat there and peeled the lot!!! The more, the merrier I say. :D Because she was having so much fun peeling the petai, Mum cooked up my absolute fav : Sambal petai masak ikan masin!!! That’s spicy sauce cooked with saled dried fish and petai – thank goodness I am not on a diet!!! I had this for lunch AND dinner!! :D

Sambal petai ikan masin
So thank you, my darling….Mummy was most happy today. Heh.

Peekaboo!

This is what Brandon’s been up to lately – playing peekaboo with us! lol :P Very cute and I’m glad I got a vid of this to remember….and that I’ve put it up on this blog too!!

Daddy, you’re so going to love this in person! :D

Never too late

I guess this must run in the family….my kids all started walking late. Arianna is perhaps the best despite only turning over at nearly 8 months. Brandon is currently holding the record! To be honest, he has only RECENTLY started rolling over by himself. While he is able to scoot around on his bum and pull himself up, he has never made any attempt to roll over despite our continuous encouragement ie. loads of tummy time and helping/teaching him to roll over. I dont know what to say about that really. So while his arms and legs are somewhat strong, it’s only now that he making a little bit more effort to roll over.

I reckon that although he is capable of rolling over by himself, he hasn’t quite figured out how to coordinate so that he can roll over. However, once he does roll over he is quick to push himself up and sit up – that I find totally weird and bizarre! And you can literally see how proud he is of himself for being able to do it! lol Very cute….

Anyhoo, I managed to take this vid of him in the walker FINALLY walking after at least 3 weeks of not even trying to move forward. All he did when we put him in there was to whine and cry as if we’ve abandoned him or something. But I think he’s figured out the “power” of the walker and now, he is more happy to be in it! Moving forward more than backwards….that’s progress to me!

Christmas in October

One day while out shopping just before Deepavali (the Festival of Lights celebrated by the Hindus), I came across this store. I was totally too surprised that I nearly forgot to take a pix of it! lol :P

Chrismas in October??
Yup, Christmas decor up and right up at your face!!

As you can see KR couldn’t resist it and it took a lot of effort and white lies to get the girls away from the window. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous for stores to put up Christmas decor so early when clearly there is another celebration before it. (If you’re confused, I’m back home in Malaysia for a holiday – a LONG one! :P ) I reckon it’s plain rude and really uncalled for.

But on another note, it’s already November and golly, soon Christmas will be here and I am no where near getting Christmas gifts at all. Heck, nothing’s crossed my mind either! With the kids, I know what to get for their stockings but for the adults, I think something I’d like to get them some unique stocking stuffers just to make it worth their while. :P I’m not sure what I plan to get but I best get cracking!
