Getting their fill while they can

I blogged about bananas recently and I never had the chance to take shots of the kids really enjoying their bananas until today. Like I mentioned in that post, bananas are easily available here in Malaysia and in most Asian countries hence, it would be no big deal for those living in Asia but when you live in a country that is charging you AU15.99/kg for bananas (coz of the major floods in Queensland), this is like striking gold!

Getting their fill of bananas!
OOooooo NOM NOM NOM NOM….

This household has never had no bananas since we arrived! lol You could say that the bananas have be come the staple fruit in this household. Thank goodness Tesco is literally down the road, 3 mins away from my house so I can always duck down there to get these delicious nanas in case of emergency stock depletion. lol :P And now that they’ve had their fill (for today), time for nap time. Mummy needs her body pillows and KR makes the absolute perfect one!! Ask her who she is and she’ll tell you, “Mummy’s pillow!”. :P

Mummy’s boy

They say the more kids you have, the less pix you have of them and it made me think….what about that Dugger family with 18 kids???? Poor kids….. :P But from my personal experience, this is really not far from the truth. With Arianna, I took many pix everyday to document her growing up, and then KR came and I had less time but still managed to take pix of her. And then Brandon came along and poor fella doesnt have as many as KR….so for me, this really rings true. I really dont have the time to sit down and take pix of everything he does like it was during Arianna’s time and I wonder if he’ll hate me for it. :(

But that said, I am somewhat enjoying having a boy to dress up to cut the monotony of sewing only girly stuff. It’s good to sometimes sew boys stuff too especially if I can sew up funny t shirts. :P Since I’ve gotten my freezer paper and ink, I’m just looking for the right time to do it. I am somewhat looking forward to it really. In the mean time, here are some shot of my baby boy….

All manja
Such a lovey/cuddly (manja) baby!

 Big boy now!

Unwrapped he is

I honestly meant to blog about this wonderful development when it happened but omg, life has been hectic since the day we arrived!!! If you’ve been following my blog, you would have noticed that I’ve been stressing out about Brandon not being able to fall asleep unless he is wrapped.

Friends on FB mentioned that it was nothing to worry about – a friend’s son was wrapped till he was 2! So with those comments I read, I was a little relief. But today, I am over the moon because Brandon is no longer wrapped and it was something that REALLY happened overnight. Despite the many advices to take things slow, I think my kids are the kind that just need to be dump in the deep end of a pool!

It all happened when we went visiting my uncle. The kids still had not gotten over the time change and so with the 3 hour difference, I think they were enjoying their ‘late nights’ out. Aside from the fact that they met their second cousins for the first time, they had loads of fun playing and stuffing their face with cookies. lol So all that sugar really had them bouncing off the walls. It was almost 11pm when we left for home and close to midnight by the time we reached home so bubba was TOTALLY knackered!

Sis was holding him so he fell asleep in her arms and even when she put him to bed, he didnt stir at all. So she pretty much just put to bed as is – without wrapping him. I thought that he would notice it and wake up but he didnt! :D Since that day, he has been unwrapped. I wasnt sure at first if that was how it was but I just didnt wrap him when I put him to bed and it worked!!

So a huge huge thank you to sis/Godma for making this happen!! :D It’s been at least a few weeks now and looks like we wont be turning back – we now have a bear, a pillow and a blankey as comfort items! lol :P

Talk about being decadent!

When winter comes, I start nagging at Ted to bring down our electric blanket. Why it took me 2 years before I got one of these babies, I cannot answer but now that we have one, I don’t know how I ever lived/slept without! :P Even in the early days of spring, I’d still switch it on and Ted would be quick to tease about how decadent I am but he never complaints when I also switch his side of the bed on. And when I don’t…..someone sulks! lol

But nothing can be more decadent than my BIL and his recently purchased heated car seat covers…..I thought he was kidding me but apparently he was not!!! I reckon it’s about time I start nagging at Ted to get these covers to keep me bum warm during winter!! Heh. :P

Happy 1st Birthday Brandon!

Today, my little tiger cub celebrated his first birthday! :D Seems just like yesterday that I was carrying him home from the hospital all tiny and snug as a bug! Today, he’s this darling little fella…with chompers! lol :P Being a weekday, we didnt have any party for him but looks like there might be one over the weekend.

Godma (the pretend chef) made his cake and it turned out great! Thank you so much Godma….

The walger (walrus-tiger) cake that Godma made. It was meant to be a tiger cake but since we couldnt get cupcakes to make the ears, sis did her best and I think it looks great!

Although Daddy isnt here to celebrate this big day with you, know that he was and is thinking of you on this special day. And as we sang the birthday song for you, we were thinking of Daddy too. We miss you, Daddy…..cant wait to see you!

It’s MINE!

I’ll let this pix speak for itself…. :P

Mine!

When the kids are asleep….

Mummy goes out to party! ;) Yup, after many years of not stepping into a club due to obvious reasons…..I finally made my way into one on Saturday night after the kids had gone to bed. I was reminded of the anticipation and excitement of dressing up. lol Yes, that was one of the things that I thought really would either make or break the night. Keeping in mind that the club could (would most likely) be filled with youngsters (not that I’m THAT old anyway), I actually had nothing club-worthy to wear. We all know how skimpy clothes can get at a club so I settled for something that would make me look good and I was comfortable in. It was hardly skimpy! lol In fact I think I was the most covered up one!

Saturday nite out
Here we are all dolled up and ready to paint the town red….

Thankfully, there were not many ‘kids’ around and most were between late 20s to the 50 yr old man beside sis who kept telling her that the night was still young as we got ready to leave. lol I thought that was simply hilarious – old man telling *ahem* younger women that the night was still young! :P

Over all, I did have fun but I could not TOTALLY have fun and forget about who I left behind. I wasnt concerned about the girls, it was Brandon who I was worried about as he normally wakes up for a feed around midnight. I kept checking my phone to see if Mum was calling us home but she didnt. So we stayed on a little longer and enjoyed the live band. But once the DJ started spinning, I was caught off guard really. Actually, its more like I had forgotten how loud club music can get. I could feel my pants vibrating!! LOL :P Needless to say, it’s absolutely pointless to talk in a club so whatever Sis said to me, I just nodded.

O and we had the chance to check out some (so-called) professional pole dancers at work. Sadly, I thought they were more like posers instead of dancers. Dont get me wrong, I was impressed at their upper body strength and thighs to be able to swing and hold on to the pole like pole dancers do but they werent really dancing at all. So rough and spent most of their time just posing on the pole really. The skinnier one was just plain and this goes to show that one does look nicer when you’ve got a bit of flesh on you coz the other dancer who was a little bit chubbier (and better at it too) was nice to look at. All in all, I didnt think they deserved any tips but someone did give them some so good for them.

We came home after 2am, fighting off major hunger pangs which is normal after clubbing coz I remember stuffing my face at mamaks after clubbing but not this time. I was too worried about bub to go eat. The moment I stepped in, he woke up. I reckon he sensed me and woke up….what a good boy!! :) So all in all, I did have fun and I think I’d like to take Ted there. It’s loud but its fun! :D

How to slow down time?

Brandon turns 1 yr old in just a few days time and I’m still trying to figure out how the heck that happened! lol Seems just like yesterday that I was struggling to walk into the hospital feeling silly coz I was staggering just like in the movies when a woman goes into labour. Lord knows how I was able to even be thinking that in THAT situation!! And yet, here he is….all 8 teeth and learning how to pull himself up. :)

Having a boy when you’ve already had 2 girls makes things a little more exciting and definitely makes it more interesting when I get to sew both girls and boys stuff. But it also makes me think about how things will be when he is older. I am worried about how I will be like dealing with teenagers…..I’m actually quite scared! I wouldnt say that I was an angel growing up and at one point, I was a biker chick coz my ex-bf owned one of those big bikes (well, at least in Malaysia they are considered big) and we’d go on long rides. I still remember having to wear those huge tight helmets like a Nolan N104 and how I hated it coz it does some serious damage to my already thin hair – it squashes it all down!!! EVen after I take off my helmet, it still looks as if its still on. Horrible!!

Anyway, while I am looking forward to see my kids grow up….more often than not, I wish they would slow down and let me enjoy their babyhood more. I know its impossible but I’d still like to think I could slow time down even for just a fraction.

Bathroom stress

While we are here in Kulim for our hols, poor Ted is left to deal with our bathroom problems. Not too long ago, there was a leak from our bathroom to the unit downstairs, and after a long back and forth with our strata management, we had it fixed and thought our problems were over. Although the plumber who fixed it came recommended, I reckon he did a crappy job coz now, it’s leaking again and looks like its not just your simple “seal with silicon and it will be ok” situation.

I think if its really bad, we might have to do up our bathroom earlier than planned and that just means that I wont get a say in anything coz I’m here!!! :/ I like it simple so I hope Ted thinks the same too. Although I have to admit that actually soaking in one of those clawfoot tubs does sound somewhat….I dunno, exciting! lol This is me comparing it to our currently built into the wall and floor tub of course. :P In any case, I hope to hear more good news than bad. Poor Daddy!

Posting from home!!

Yup, it’s day 2 since we arrived safely in Kulim. The weather has been somewhat kind to us. It’s been raining a bit so its keeping the heat at bay. And I am thankful for that.

I’d like to write up about our flight but that will take some time. I should get to bed right now and get some shuteye before Brandon wakes up for his feed. On a happier note, he does not need to be wrapped anymore!! YAY!! I think he has figured out that it’s too hot to be wrapped. :D That is another story though…. :)

Back soon!!
