Quite some time ago, Ted bought this huge train set for Arianna and left it in our room. We never had the chance to set it up coz we were still looking for a wooden table to lay it on. But from the moment she saw that bag of train and tracks, she has not stopped bugging us about it. This is to the extend that we had threatened to chuck the lot out if she didn’t stop going on about it. Blame it on the telly for making such a great cartoon. 
Anyway, after not being able to find a table that was suitable and Arianna’s constant “Please Daddy/Mummy, play with Thomas…pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!!!”, Ted finally caved in and got one of those spongy jigsaw floormats that your piece together and now, 1/3 of my living room is the base of this humongous train track…for Thomas. *sigh*
Every since he set it up for the girls, poor battery operated Thomas has been on the go. As long as the girls were awake, that poor thing has been chugging along the same railway tracks up and down until they go in for the arvo nap. Then he gets to rest….I’m just waiting for him to run out of battery so I can stop hearing him chungging along the tracks – its so bloody irritating sometimes!!
The upside of it all is that they rather play/watch the train than watch tv and for that, I cannot argue. Also, the girls can’t really fight about it coz it’s basically just watching him go around the tracks unless KR’s bum/leg/hand gets in the way and blocks the tracks and then you can hear all about it from Arianna who (I’m sorry to say) can get quite anal distressed if things are not where she put them. All in all, while I have lost the back back part of my livingroom I am glad to also know that it is a step forward from watching less tv and having more interaction instead. 
O, and it keep Brandon occupied too!
