Imelda Marcos-es in the making

The girls are spoilt when it comes to shoes. Both Nanna and Godma loves buying them shoes. Today, we went out shopping at Landmark (the newest & biggest shopping complex in Kulim) and needless to say, we ended up buying – SHOES. :) Yup…it won’t be long before they will be label as following in the footsteps of the shoe queen, Imelda Marcos (She’s said to have 3000 pairs of shoes!!!!)

I am very happy with the loot we came back with because it’s nice to see *this* sort of kids shoes coming back into fashion. I’m absolutely against kids wearing high heels like that Suri Cruise (Katie Holmes should be shot!) and that’s all the stores these days seem to stock up on. I mean, why would anyone in their right mind want their little girl to grow up before their time? As it is, they are already shooting up like weeds and allowing them to wear shoes with heels is merely robbing them further of their childhood! That’s just absolutely, downright WRONG!! If you’re of those parents buying those heeled AND slippery shoes, you ought to step back and reflect on why you’re doing it…..after all you have the last say in what your kids wear/put on.

In my most humble opinion, even women shouldn’t be wearing very high heels because it does a lot of harm to your body especially your back and feet/calves. But I know that most women would rather sacrifice health for outer beauty and that’s just a sad fact in reality. Where would you be without health? You can kiss all your shoes good bye then…..

Anyway, enough ranting from a pregnant woman who happens to also be a mum of 2 girls. :P On with shots of the loot :

Mini Imelda Marcos-es
We bought 4 pairs, 2 for each girl…have to be fair right? :) It was added blessing that each pair was RM10 off. :D

Mini Imelda Marcos-es
THE shoes…pink ones on the left bought by Godma and the rest Nanna bought today. Thank you Nanna & Godma!! You’re the best….. ((Hugs))

We purposely bought various sizes so that it will last for awhile and if you’re wondering what KR is doing with a pair of rather boyish shoes….well, we reckon it would be something that will be re-used in no time! ;)

My dancing queens

Not too long ago I mentioned about going pubbing and it reminded me of my younger days where I used to club a fair bit. :P I was young, I was in college…what else would I be doing other than going to college right? ;) I reckon Arianna’s got that bit of me – the love for dancing and grooving. She started really young and if you look hard enough, I reckon you’ll find vids of her dancing from a young age. I can’t remember where they are right this moment, but it’s definitely in here somewhere.

I didn’t think KR liked grooving until we found out what her Achilles heel (music related) was!! :P It’s Michael Franti’s Say Hey (I love you). That kid’s got taste!! And needless to say, Arianna moves to any sort of catchy music…in fact, I managed to get them on cam!! :P

*LOL* KR is totally INTO it at some parts. It’s hilarious!! That child is really funny….

I’m really excited to know what J-Roc is going to be like. I know for sure that no one child is the same so it is kind of exciting but at the same time daunting thinking what sort of baby he is going to turn out to be!! Being the first (and only) boy (Ted, please take note!) in our immediate family, he hasn’t much clothes just yet. I can’t use most of the clothes that Arianna or KR has coz they are a wee bit too girly although I have tried most times to make it gender neutral for such occasions. So while I still can, I’ve been taking notes on what sort of baby clothes I”d like to make for him. I love to dress babies up in onesies coz it’s SO easy so I think I’ll start with that. For this reason only, I am looking forward to going home and checking out my latest fabric stash….and trust me, I think it’s going to be one helluva scary haul!!! :P

Making a list…

No, not a CHristmas wishlist although that is a rather tempting thought BUT instead, I’ll be making up a list of advice for first time parents and parents-to-be because I have a couple of friends who will be taking on this rather exciting and imporatant role in the near future. :)

I don’t remember reading anything of this sort before I had Arianna and although I read tons of books, it helped but not much because the books only give you the opinions and ideas from the author and not a collections of personal experience from numerous people. Hence, I thought it would be an excellent idea for my friends and as for me, a walk down memory lane as well as reminding me as well as I too, prepare myself for round 3! :)

So watch out for the post, coming out soon…..waiting to compile all the advice I’ve been getting from various experienced parents. :D

24 weeks and counting (A very late update)

I feel bad for J-Roc…I’ve been SO behind in updating this pregnancy in almost every aspect. :( I guess the more kids you have, the less you tend to write about the journey because it’s pretty much the same routine except maybe certain other out norm things that could happen. But for me, all 3 pregnancies are pretty much the same. The most obvious is, needless to say, extremely BAD heartburn. While I’m blogging right now, it’s killing me!! And I had dinner hours ago and nothing since then. >.< ANd yet, the heartburn is just SO bad...I literally am loving on Maalox at the moment. I can't wait for Ted to come over and bring me my Quickeze - they work better for me.

Anyway, when I took this pix, I was 24 weeks but currently am 26 weeks. :P I'm due for my glucose test but since the doc wont be around till Monday, I have till then to figure out how I'm going to the clinic for this blood test with Arianna...or should I drag the whole gang down with me. Still in the midst of figuring that one out though. *sigh*

Ok, so what's new with J-Roc? Well, he's definitely been kicking a lot lately...at one point I was worried that he wasn't moving enough but doc assured me that he is one healthy little fella and the reason why I couldn't feel much movement was because my placenta was at the top hence absorbing the impact that his kicks and jabs were giving out. Not to mention that I have very thick belly skin as well! :P But these days, I can feel it quite well which is a good thing... :)

J-roc @ 24 weeks
This is me at 24 weeks…what a crappy shot I know but hey, you make do with what you have! :P

Other than that, I noticed that I havent really put on that much weight which to me is a good thing. The last thing doc said as I walked out the door at my last checkup was, “Watch your weight, ah! I know Mummy’s cooking very good but be careful….”. Cheeky doctor! And he’s right, it’s hard to watch what you eat when you’re at home and your Mum whips up delish meals EVERYDAY! So I try to eat moderately which is something that is not really in my dictionary. Ted can vouch for that! lol I also try to drink more water but surprisingly, I cant seem to find the time to do it! So I’ve made it a point to drink a glass of water everytime I go to the loo. That way, what comes out gets replenished. I reckon its one good way of keeping up my fluids what with the weather here being so humid. Some days my sweat just drips down like a stream! :/

As for the girls, I’m slowly trying to get Arianna to stop calling KR ‘baby’ coz we don’t want her to be confused with the new baby. :P She seems to sort of gather that there’s something happening and has given my tummy a couple of kisses. Sayang baby it seems…so perhaps she is not all that ignorant of him – which is also a good thing. But I reckon she doesn’t know how to differentiate between boys and girls although once J-ROc comes…she’ll defintiely notice ONE big protruding difference! *lol* :P After all, she already knows a little bit about her bits (we call it that coz it sounds better than anything else I can think of for a kid), nothing to obscene just yet. *keeps fingers crossed*

And on a rather happier note, Ted flys out here on 31/7 – he’ll be over the moon to see the girls again, more likely more happier to see them than me, I’m sure. :P And him being out here would also mean a little bit more time to myself. :) But then again, that remains to be seen because as soon as he flys out here, rest a day and the next day we are off to KL to settle my Visa….hectic 2 weeks that follow JUST before I leave for Sydney. Blek….not really looking forward to returning to Sydney…really. :/

The Godfather?

As Catholics, it is our obligation and responsibility to ensure that our child is baptism and made part of the Catholic family as soon as possible. For us, I try to make sure that the kids are baptised by 6 weeks but more often than not it doesn’t always happen the way we want it. :P We were superbly late with Arianna who was baptised at nearly 8 months (Egad!!) and KR wasn’t too bad. She was baptised around 2+ months so that’s in keeping with time limit. The ILs and my Mum have been bugging us to have the baptism early perhaps due to habits as back in their days, baptism was done as soon as the baby was born due to the high rates of infant mortality. But that was then when healthcare wasn’t very good and people were relatively poor.

These days, we are much more blessed and I reckon can afford to take our time. :) FOr J-Roc, we’re hoping that my BIL (Ted’s elder brother) will agree to become the Godfather (happening title right?) and we’re making my sis the Godmother. They are both currently single hence no partner is available. :P And as a sign of thanks, we’re thinking of getting him a watch and sis suggested a Vacheron Constantin. I’m pretty sure he’ll like it coz he is an absolute sucker for watches and something as elegant as this will definitely be something he’ll like a lot! :)

Now all we need is a “YES” from him and we can start making the preps!! :D

Need more adult company please

I was meant to blog about this a few weeks ago when it happened but needless to say, I totally forgot about it! And to think this was something rather special and to a certain degree, important to me – as a pregnant woman and a mother of 2!!! :P

I can’t remember the last time I stepped foot in a club, let alone tortured my eardrums like I used to back in college. Heck, the last time I danced on a dance floor was back in….early 2006!!! O.O Can you imagine that??? Omg…almost 5 years since. Crikey, that’s really scary!! :/

So when the chance for me to once again torture my eardrums despite being 6 months pregnant, I jumped at it! *lol* No, I didn’t go CLUBBING….I went pubbing to a pub just literally down the road from my home. :D Yes, if I drove on neutral I’d arrive right at its doorstep coz it’s all downhill. :P It’s so close that I couldn’t even finish counting my 10 fingers and we’d arrive there – it’s THAT close by. Anyway, I went there with Sis and her friend…very nice of him to ask me along despite my condition. Hahaha….people might have thought him a pimp bringing 2 girls with him. :P

The thing with this place is that you don’t need to get all dressed up in all those party/clubbing “costumes“. Some girls really take it to a whole new level, it’s frightening! Me? I just went in jeans and a strappy maternity top. And even then the waitress asked me why I wasn’t drinking beer. :P I had a glass of coke instead – what else could I drink right? Would be ridiculous to ask for orange juice, so obvious then!!

It was really fun because the place doubles up as a karaoke as well so you get to sing along if you want to OR you could just request for the songs and they’d play it for you. The 3 of us ended up screaming at the top of our lungs to the Malay slow rock classics of the 90s. Bands like Search, Wings and Spring to name a few…of course, we also sang (along) songs from Alleycats as well. Happening!! :) I really enjoyed myself and it was hard trying to restrain myself from not jumping up
and grooving! LOL I think that would have scared away all the patrons. HAHAHAH!!

I am certainly looking forward to taking Ted there, he is a karaoke addict. Thank goodnes he hasn’t bought a set yet!!

Finally crawling!!

Compared to Arianna, KR is an extremely late bloomer in all aspects except turning over for the first time and talking. She actually rolled over 2 days prior to turning 4 months – 26/8/2009, hard to forget when it’s the same birthdate as my bestfriends. :P As for talking, she started babbling earlier and now, she picks up words fairly quickly and sometimes, can easily make up 2 to 3 word sentences. For me, that’s pretty good. :)

Anyway, since she only REALLY started crawling here in Kulim…I took this vid. For most times, she would scoot around on her bum and still do sometimes. I reckon this can’t be more than a month ago.

Even here, her crawling is not as smooth BUT she has improved alot.

But want to know a really unusual thing? If you hold her hand, she can walk and walk and walk BUT let go and she freaks out and that’s it. She loses balance, and confidence and wails like mad. The problem is that I reckon she can already walk steadily BUT she has no confidence in even trying. She still holds on to things if she wants to get from one place to another BUT she won’t learn to stand up (by pulling herself up) or to sit down on her own either and I have NO idea how to kick start her confidence level. I always tell her not to worry if she fumbles but apaprently my words are not working it’s magic at all. :( I still keep positive about it but really hoping that she will pick up more confidence soon.

I got blue fingers….

All the women in my family have green fingers. Anything they grow, lives and bears fruit. Me….I’ve got the most rotten fingers ever! :( Nothing I’ve every grown has ever bore any fruit…heck, they never survive passed the 3rd day. But Mum hasn’t given up on me…. lol

The last 2 times she came over to help with the girls when they were first born, she would always end up encouraging me to start a small veggie patch on our balcony. And each time she gets me hyped up, I get excited and plan for something things that just don’t happen in the end. Her latest effort was to actually get a small herb garden going and honestly, I tried my best to keep them alive but alas, just a few weeks after she left, they began to die. :/

I honestly wasn’t surprised at all. In fact, she even suggested that I train Arianna to water the herbs for me which I did :

Veggie & Herb patch with a budding gardener
See…? I tried, Mum…I really did.

But after yet another failed patch I’m just about to give up but not Mum….she’s suggested something else now. Now she wants me to try one of those hydroponic systems!! *slaps forehead* I don’t know, Mum….I’ll have to think about it.

Project Paksa Tidur* – Day 3

FAILED!

And here I was thinking that there was hope that I would finally get Arianna to take her arvo nap. *sigh* Today was the worst I reckon. :( As usual, after lunch and tucking KR to bed, we’d hang around a bit and play with her alphabets or she’d go berserk with her robot basket and entertain herself for awhile until it’s about 3pm when I try to get her into bed.

But today even though she followed me into the room at 3pm, she never slept until 4.30pm…in fact, she fought her sleepiness off and came out of room with a triumphant smile of victory on her face – the little brat! Not to mention she looks like a little baby panda bear with those dark circles around her eyes coz she was in fact sleepy but refused to sleep. Terrible right? :/

I really dont know what to do to get her to take a nap in the afternoon…..coz most days, I’m flat out after lunch and a short nap of 1/2 hr would give me that extra energy and keep me going till night time when I get to do my own thing. It’s really frustrating but I must persist to resist.

Project Paksa Tidur* – Day 4 will commence as planned!

*Project Paksa Tidur = Project Force to Sleep

My all time fav Malaysian tea time snack!

I went out in the arvo a couple of day ago to pay some bills and update my bank book. On the way home, I stopped by a road side stall selling pisang goren (banana fritters) to buy some back but it wasn’t ready. Feeling sad that I couldn’t buy some back, I decided to make a short detour off course on the way home to another roadside stall selling these snacks and was so glad that this man was still running his stall even after 2 years! :D (The last time I was home, he had just started his business)

You could say that I went a little overboard (so much for checking out all those apidexin reviews and bought RM2 of pisang goreng and keropok lekor (local fish cake crackers sort of) and RM1 each of curry puffs and my fav, a little ball of fried mashed tapioca called kuih bom. When I arrived home, hoping to be greeted by my loving family members, no one was around….everyone was fast asleep!!! >.<

I sat myself down and stuffed my face with my loot. lol :P Aaaahhh…..it was yummylicioud especially since you’ve not had these for 2 years!!! :D I ate a fair bit and wanted to make myself a cuppa but decided against it and downed it all with a tall glass of water. Simple and delish….the best Malaysian tea time snack ever! :D
