Arianna’s 1st first birthday

Wow, I’m just so knackered, I’m about ready to crash!

In just a few words, everything turned out quite good after all the stressing. :) Arianna woke me up as usual at about 6.50am but I took a good 10 minutes after that to get to her. I just could not get out of my lovely, toasty, warm bed [link]. So after a quick feed and giving her brekkie, we went to wake Ted up and I went straight to work.

A shot I took with the balloons that contain all my breath! *lol* I placed her in her playpen with the balloons and look at her hair…so funny!

When 2 junior Eels fans get together, they eat. :)

I did the fried pasta first and then, after that, I started preparing my fav dip [avacado dip + sour cream + taco mix + chopped tomatoes = YUM!] and prepared the carrot sticks. At about 9am, Ted went out to get the cake and some chicken nuggets as well as some other odds and ends. After he came back, I fried up the nuggets and cleaned up here and there, and managed to get Arianna to take a nap at 10.30am as planned. She slept for a good 1.5 hours and woke up pretty cheery until she saw all the unfamiliar faces. She was just shocked in shydom!!

Arianna apperantly knew who to ‘attack’ first. This is the first time she is meeting another baby close up. Poor Riley must have lost a handful of hair!!

For the first time, our guests arrived on time and this only happens when you are rushing and not really all prepared. I remember during our wedding reception…we decided to enter the ballroom on time but sadly when we were ready and went downstairs, guests were still trickling in and we actually waited awhile outside while people arrived! Shocking I tell you….anyway, by the time everyone arrived, the food I prepared was all ready but Ted was still fixing up the BBQ. But that didn’t dampen the mood at all as everyone was busy chatting with a beer in hand. The weather was perfect with the sun out and not so windy so our long and big balcony was put to great use.

While most of the adult guests were outside, the kids were inside wrecking the place. *lol* All the unblown [sp?] balloons was strewn in the hall while all the balloons which I blew up surounded the whole area too. I was afraid that some kid might pop one but surprisingly, nothing happened, which is all good.

At about 1.30pm, it was cake cutting time and Arianna was trying her best to get her hand in the cake. I did it her a small piece as it was really very sweet. It was a chocolate mud cake – YUM, in the shape of #1. One really silly thing that I did was to assume that the birthday cakes here came with the candle too so we didn’t buy any. And when Ted said that the cake didn’t come with candles, I was so shocked! I didn’t know what to do as it was so late by the time he had come back so we ended up getting one of his friends to buy the candle on the way over. Can you imagine having a birthday without a candle to blow out???? How terrible right?

Arianna cutting her chocolate mud cake. No, I didn’t make it although I wish I could!

After the cake cutting, we opened all the presents and WOW, the best present was a rocking lion which really took us by surprise. We haven’t officially bought Arianna a gift yet but it will happen soon. Most of them were toys and 2 sets of clothes which is great because kids clothes are really very expensive. Soon after, people started packing up to leave and the last guests left at 4.30pm.

Faster open la Mummy, faster!

Clothes for summer – bring it on!

This is the best gift of all!!! A roaring rocking lion from Ted’s friend. This can last for quite some time but for now, I’ve packed it up coz I caught her chewing on the tail. *pengsan*

There was a lot of food balance as apparently it’s quite normal for guests to bring a plate to a party. Hence, on top of the food I prepared which was the nuggets, spring rolls, a whole rock melon, fried pasta, steak and sausages…there was also roasted honey chicken, salad and macaroons. That really was way too much plus the fact that a few people pulled out at the last minute to due kids and pets feeling ill. I guess it was for the best that those sick kids didn’t come along or they would have passed the bug around to the rest of the kids here. There was so much pasta balance that I had to pack some for one of them to take back home and I still have a huge bowl full in the fridge. That will be lunch at the park tomorrow if it’s not too cold as the weather man said that it’s going to be a ‘frosty 15 deg’ tomorrow.

The worst thing about parties is the cleaning up. *blek* So much to wash which I did slowly after Arianna went to bed. Poor thing must be sooooooo whacked out. Hope she sleeps through tonight coz Lord knows, I’m so going to knock out after I finish this post. So with all the plates washed up, I can at least wake up to a clean kitchen free of dirty dishes although I wished that I could just forget about it. Ted said that he would help me clean up but I really don’t want to wait to clean up the mess and all. I’ll just leave him the garbage to throw out tomorrow. I’m SO going to sleep in la…

No more a baby – she’s a toddler now!!! :( Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa, I want my baby back.
