So many perverts out there!

A few weeks ago, a well-known local artist Bill Henson had to have his exhibition put on hold because he had shots of underage girls posing nude for his show. It caused an uproar in both the art world as well as amongst parents because of what was involved. Art lovers stood firmly by him saying that this is purely art and the parents of these girls had given him permission to photograph their daughters and that the girls were aware of what was going on.

On the other hand, many parents and parent groups were appalled that this exhibition was to take place because they considered it pornography. And I guess they were happy when it was put on hold but it did bring about a lot of issues. And for the next couple of weeks, that was all that was on telly!

I personally agree with most parents here that it was totally unnecessary for him to photography those young girls nude. After all, I assume he wanted to capture the ‘innocence’ and the young bodies that they have but, even at 18, a lot of young women still have that ‘innocence’ left. Not all women were born with jugs that could poke your eyes out. And with their faces blurred, who is to know how old the model are? I think it’s all a matter of perspective.

Many documentaries brought up this topic and in one of them [can't remember which one] even mentioned that with the rising number of paedophiles around, its possible that nappy ads will no longer be allowed to air. And the sad thing is, the police recently busted a huge ring of paedophiles here in Australia and among them were teachers!! That is just utterly sick because he was directly involved with children at school. Makes you think what runs through his mind the whole day – yucks!!

It’s just utterly sick that such people exists and they get kicks out of watching children. Major yuckness! I guess this makes me really think twice about putting up pictures of Arianna having her bath or playing in the pool. Although I make sure that she is totally ‘decent’ and if not, there will definitely be a starfish at the appropriate places, I can’t help but think if her photos have been used for the wrong reasons.

I can’t understand what they see or what they get out of looking at naked kids other than the fact that babies have really cute bums. And they just look so cute in their birthday suit but other than that, how can anyone have sexual gratification out of that?!?!?! I just don’t get it….

However, like I said, it does worry me and I intend to be more aware of what I put up these days. You just can’t be too careful in this day and age. SO many sickos out there! *blek*

I go for best buys!

Call me frugal but hey, if you can save more than just a few buck on something that is worth more than you are willing to pay for, wouldn’t you buy it as well?? Being frugal is not tough, in fact, if you keep your eyes peeled for online sales or all those many best buy frenzies that pop up every now and then, you’d be surprised at what you can get for a fraction of the original price.

I’ve actually purchase a couple of items at cheap prices and I’m glad that I kept my eyes opened. But one must remember to be discipline enough to turn off the pc once you start looking for things you don’t need. ;) Yes, online sales can be VERY addictive!

I pamper my pups!

Whenever I go home, I always end up buying both arms full of dog supplies for my pups. I buy toys, biscuits and bath solutions too. You know, I bet the one thing that most of us don’t realise when we have pets is that we are slaves to them but it’s not in a bad way at all seeing how much they love us in return.

I bet every wag of the tail or a paw shake melts your heart, doesn’t it? And then they look at you with those big beautiful brown eyes and you just overflow with love. :) It’s just lovely, isn’t?  Thinking of this really brings me back to home, at least in my mind. I truly miss my pet dogs. Can’t wait to see them soon!

Baby talk

So babies are too young to understand what we are saying so we shorten words or make it sound ‘cute’ so they can identify with it easily but really, is that something that should be carried out seeing that I personally think that it will not be something good in the long term?

Many parents I know, both family and friends, have made up words to help their kids go potty and stuff like that. I’m not bringing this up in for the sake of pinpointing but to understand why it is done and why I think it should be stopped. One of the challenges that as a parent I know I will face is potty training and it is one major hurdle crossed when Arianna does succeed – in fact, it will be a cause for celebration, I think! :) But in the process of getting to that stage, we’ve starting identifying what to call #1 and #2.

Picture taken from here.

We decided that we’d just use the correct word for it instead of using some of the more common words that I’ve heard back home like ‘put kaka’, ‘uuh-uuh’ [I'm pretty sure I got the spelling wrong but if in Malaysia, this is the sound you make if you are trying to get bubba to poo] or ‘koo-kook’. We’re labeling it as ‘poo’ – ‘Arianna, did you poo? O, you busuk-busuk baby, you!’, followed by many giggles and tickles and me struggling to keep her hands out of the soiled nappy as she had just found out that there is something more beyong her thighs. Many a time, I wish my nose wasn’t working that good….

And as for pee, well…we’re calling it ‘pee’. No such thing as ‘shee-shee’ or ‘cee-cee’ in the house. Although I haven’t really found a time to say it since it happens all the time. Later on, once she is bigger and more independant, I’ll be referring to it as the ‘little girl’s room’ as I think asking, ‘Arianna, you wanna go piss?’ in a restaurant is bound to turn more than just a few heads! *lol* In fact, I think asking, ‘Arianna, you wanna go potty?’ sounds more ‘adult’ than ‘You want to uuh-uuh?’, right? All kids wanna be treated like adults and when you do, they love it. :)

The simple matter of the fact is I just want to teach her the right words from the beginning so that I do not have to ‘un-teach’ her and start on the correct words later on as we all know very well that unlearning something is a lot tougher [and near impossible] than picking it up. I wish I could unlearn swimming and pick up the right way of doing but nup, it ain’t happening.

This also means that dog is doggie, not woof-woof. Cat is cat, not meow-meow and train is train, not choo-choo unless you call is a choo-choo train. ;) And mind you, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Kids are picking up things so fast that just 2 days ago, Arianna didn’t know how to wave and then overnight, she started waving her hand whenever I said ‘bye-bye’! I don’t know where she picked it up from, most likely MIL taught her but heck – in a blink, she’s waving her hand. Sheesh, we’ve got to get our swear jar set up soon!! :P It has been agreed that if either one of us swears in front of Arianna, we’ve got to ‘donate’ a gold coin. That is either $1 dollar or $2 over here. I think Ted will bankcrupt faster than me and he already owes a lot to the swear jar!! *lol* :P

Arianna’s taking a nap now [and it's not 'orrh-orrh', ok?] so I better get to stripping the sheets – the weather has been crap lately and every bit of sunshine is like striking the Lotto!!! That’s winter for you in Sydney…..

*Next time : If you child falls down, is it the floor’s fault?

We need new faucets!

I’ve been putting up with a leaky faucet in the bathroom for a few days now and it is driving me up the wall. Ever tried falling asleep when you have this drip-drip-drip sound at the background no matter what you did? Gosh, it’s ever so irritating and I can’t sleep at night!! Even if you tried covering your ears or shut the door, the sound always makes it back to you no matter what. Seriously, I’m on the verge of reaching insanity!

So I’ve been bugging Ted to get a plumber in to fix it, in fact, we’ve decided to change all our faucets to Danze faucets. The styles available are simply gorgeous and I simply love their simple yet sleek look, and this change will definitely give our bathroom a new face lift. :)

Vegas here we come!

It’s been a very long time since we went on a holiday and the last time we did, we all enjoyed it a lot and was certainly looking forward to another one. Since Ted still have a couple of weeks left of his leave, we’re planning a trip to Vegas!

The first thing that comes to mind when Las Vegas or LA is mentioned is casinos and then followed by CSI. :) I’ve never step foot in the US but if I ever did, a trip to LA is certainly a must. I mean, it would be silly to pass on a chance to throw some dice in this glamour city, right? So, aside from the fact that Arianna is going to be blown away by the sights and sounds, the first thing that I should look into would be to get a room for us amongst the many vegas hotels around.

So exciting!!!

Water baby! [Long overdue!]

This post is a majorly overdued post. I was suppose to do this asap but you know la – partly I got no mood to blog as often and also, when I do get in the mood, little miss muffet is awake so I have my hands tied but since the little miss is asleep, I better get on with it. [Lunch pun tak masak lagi!!]

Most of the pictures here are also on my other blog but the other ones will contain some which are not here and vice versa. It’s mainly about our first family vacation and we spent it at Parkroyal, Penang. It was a 3 days, 2 nights thingy which cost approximately [from memory] RM300+ a night. I wished we could afford Mutiara Beach [I think it was the one where Frank & Aida invited me to join them for the day and it was MAGNIFICENT!!] but alas, it was out of our reach. Maybe one day when we strike it big, we can la. :)

In general the hotel was nice and so was the pool. I had requested a king size bed but we ended up with 2 queen [?] size beds instead, AND upon checking in, I had to remind them again that we had already requested for a cot which wasn’t in the room when we checked in. So that part pissed me off a bit. Other than that, everything was pretty good and of course, I enjoyed the buffet breakfast la – who wouldn’t?? I know if my mum was around, memang rugi la coz she eats so little! *lol* Paling untung if I take my sister. ;)

Needless to say, the price of the food is outrageous as in most hotels but because we were just too tired to go out scouting for food, we settled for room service which was a very painful decision. Most of our time was spent in the pool because we wanted Arianna to get used to water and although I was a little apprehensive because I didn’t know what to expect from her seeing that this would be her first time in a pool, I should have known better. She loved it!!! Truly daddy’s girl – given the choice, I think Ted would have loved to have jumped into the big people’s pool but he couldn’t enjoy it when he did coz he kept wanting to spend time in the baby pool with her! *lol*

See…? Play until into the night! Seen here with daddy in the bigger pool.

We also managed to take a walk on the beach just before sunset and it was really nice because praise God, the weather was really good while we were there. It was kind of rainy that week but not when we were in Penang so it was really perfect timing. While on the beach, Arianna met her first horse – didn’t scare her one bit but I guess as babies, what do they know right? Surprisingly, she freaked out when Ted introduced her to waves! She hated it and cried….good thing that didn’t deterr her from enjoying her time in the pool.

This trip turned out to be many first times for Arianna – it was also her first time on the ferry. While we were in Malaysia, there was news that the gomen wanted to stop the ferry services and I freaked out because I wanted to let Arianna experience what it was like but thankfully, we were in time AND gomen decided otherwise in the end. To me, I think it would have been suicide to get rid of the ferry serives because it is one of those things which define Penang so I’m glad that they aren’t getting rid of the ferries.

All in all, I think it turned out to be a pretty good holiday for us and we are certainly looking forward to going back to Malaysia because Ted is VERY keen on re-visiting Tanjung Aru and I’m as excited as he is too! *lol*

Love this curl!

What’s for lunch, Mum? – The restaurant just around the corner from the hotel where we paid less than a fraction for what we had in the hotel, and we really stuffed ourselves here!

Despite conned into getting a so called coastel view from our bedroom – our walk on the beach to catch the sunset was well worth it!

When adult diapers really work for you

I used to think it funny when I first heard about adult diapers. The very thought of an adult in diapers was just hilarious to me but today, I have come to realise how important and useful it is. If you’re wondering what cause this change of heart…well, let’s just say that after having Arianna, my system wasn’t working to well due to the drugs they had to pump into me. And also the fact that I am no longer that immature child anymore. Some things are not meant to be funny once you passed that age.

In any case, I can’t be any more grateful than I already am for adult dipers as it came in SO handy that I just don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t have them at that point. I’m so glad that they have been in existence for some time now because it really kept me feeling clean and comfortable. I didn’t get any irritation at all too. So I would totally recommend it to women who’ve just had or is going to have a baby to bring it along with your hospital bag. It wouldn’t hurt to be more prepared than under prepared. :) If you don’t use it, you can always donate it to charity or to someone who may need it.

Future beauties

Wouldn’t you like the chance to walk the runways of Milan, New York or Paris? Well, this might be that one way ticket to stardom! :) We are all beautiful in our own way and what better way to flaunt it than to join Look of the Year and give yourself that chance. Although I’ve been toying about the idea for Arianna to join one of these contests, she is way too young at the moment but if in the future she desires to launch herself into the fahion industry, I don’t think I will stop her, provided she doesn’t get undernourished!! ;)

Anyway, this is a great beauty contest that can win you a whopping USD10k and even if you don’t win a prize, you might get spotted by an agency for modelling. And perhaps one day we can all say, ‘move over Kate Moss’! So check out http://www.lookoftheyear.com and don’t miss this chance.

Child star? Baby model? Got potential ka?

I just wanted to share these collages I made for my weekly Photo Hunter. It’s just all for fun and it does help to fill up the gaps in between those times when I have nothing to blog about. ;) Actually, I think some of you might actually enjoy it and especially Aida since she got SOOOooooo many photos to share from way up north there.

PH : Emotions

Anyway, these are just ramdom face shots I took of Arianna and then I just made it into a collage but I was thinking…what do you think of child stars or baby models? I mean, every parent knows that their child is cute – you know anyone who says I’ve got an ugly baby? No, right? And many of us actually do have really gorgeous kids who we’d love to show off. But does that make us pushers? As in deciding their future way before time? Ted thinks that Arianna would make a great baby model for kiddy clothes and stuff coz he thinks she’s just the most gorgeous baby ever – I have to agree with him there coz we are bias but besides that, I sincerely think that she could.

But first we need to get baby agents where they would most probably require you to have a photo profile of snapshots and on top of that, there is a registering fee. Well, most agents do and when there is a job, they call you. But sadly, it’s often the case of not getting any jobs because there are just TOO many babies out there and just THAT many jobs. And baby modelling is tough because kids change so fast too. Worst case scenario would be registering and then not getting called at all and there goes your fees, which I might add is most likely non-refundable. And that I believe is how most agents make their moolah.

PH : Emotions 2

So anyway, although Ted is quite keen, I have my doubts. It would certainly make me proud to see Arianna as a Bonds baby because what ever income we make would certainly go into her education fund, and that would help out tremendously. However, I think it comes with a heavy price. Modelling even for an adult is tough [due to stress and presurre, they turn loopy and look what happened to Naomi Campbell - rosak!], what more for a baby. Photoshoots on short notice, travelling from one place to another plus you have to have a baby who can adjust to all these elements which I personally think is just too taxing.

These are stuff which was shared by one mum whose baby was a model. Poor thing must have suffered from many disrupted routines. :( And I would really hate to see Arianna suffer like that too. At the moment, I’m just *blah* about it – no particular feelings at all. On one hand, I think, ‘Nah…..don’t wanna go through all that crap.’ Then you get thinking, without baby models, who’s going to model all those diapers, foods and pretty much everything that is baby related?? Someone’s got to do it right?

Then I’m back at square one….and I think I’ll be here for awhile. What about you? Ever thought of turning your little one into a baby mode?
