Ella’s 1st Christmas

Ella celebrated her first Christmas by celebrating an Chritmas Eve party with Ted’s friends and their family. She got flooded with pressies!!

Although we opened most of it at the party, we got another present as we were about to leave so I got to open that since Ted opened the others while I was holding Ella at the party.

O, since this was Ella’s first Christmas and all that, Grandma’s friend gave her her 1st Christmas ornament which is huge for our little tree! =P

And since it was a party, and I was drinking, we brought a bottle with us but by the time we got back, it was close to her feed but since it was a couple of hours since I had the eggnog and the bottled vodka, I thought it was ok to feed her.

Obviously not! She was so seedy the next day, it was not funny at all!! So Mummy, no drinkies for you come New Year!! In fact, I was so worried that I only had a small shot of wine when we toasted at Chrismas lunch…poor thing! But she was back to normal after that second nap. Phew!

Christmas was spent at Grandma’s and although it started out great since she got flooded again with pressies…..

The day ended up pretty crappy coz she was VERY clingy and whingey!! I don’t know why but MIL is 101% sure it’s the teeth and it was rather convincing too. However, I just think that it was one of THOSE days, you know? Poor thing….was crying so much that tears were rolling down and poor Ted was just so lost! He tried to calm her while I had my lunch but it didn’t do much good then MIL tried and made it worst! Poor Grandma….but it took Mummy’s preseverance and ‘strong’ arms to finally rock her to sleep…she was so tired she cried herself to sleep in my arms. SO PITIFUL!!!

But she was good on the way home in the car though…

She had Uncle Bill’s teddy to keep her company. :)

Merry Christmas!

From all of us, to all of you.

May you have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

We have our own

What is Christmas if you don’t have a Santa’s Helper AND a reindeer… :) Well, we have em’ both!

Another one on the way?

If I gave you a shock, imagine what happened to me?? But not to worry, I sent myself into a self-induced panic for no reason. Hehehe….I seriously thought I was because I had these REALLY horrid heartburns these past few days and it felt soooooooo familiar. Thinking back – it sents shivers down my spine!

It’s not that I don’t want any more kids or anything like that but certainly not at this time when Ella’s neck is not even 100% strong – having another youngun’ now would be like walking off the plank. And I don’t think my body could handle another pregnancy just yet plus, I’m REALLY not up to it as well. Truth be known, I’m not over the whole giving birth bit yet…..still very fresh in the mind. So with all these worries, I was up and about at 4.30am this morning testing my pee. Time never moved so slow for me before….and I have never been so happy to see just one line!! Hahahaha…..

So I am safe for now….however, I do need to get this Billing’s Method right or I’ll be back at square 1 again. I don’t think my heart can take any more of these shocks, if you know what I mean. ;)

Why Daddy shouldn’t go shopping for baby’s clothes…

…and I couldn’t agree more!! But I have to admit that these are just so super cute. =P

Snapshots of my baby

It’s that time again when I share pix of my little one. It’s pretty scary to see how fast she is growing. One minute her whole body could fit my arm, now, it can’t anymore! Even FIL is feeling her weight too. lol :P Sometimes, I wish I could go back to the time she was just born – that tiny bundle of joy. But isn’t that bizarre….coz she is STILL small!! Hahaha…o well, enjoy.

Cheers from us!

Taking pictures with Santa

Today we had the first taste of Christmas….well, not really the trus essence of Christmas what with the spirit of caring and sharing. It was quite the opposite!

This Christmas is Ella’s first Christmas so we as first time parents are going out of our way to commemorate everything that is happening this year to remind us of our little bundle of joy. And when I say everything, it’s right from the newpaper that was published on the day she was born, my name labels that came in that day [which happen to have spelling errors] to wanting to get an ellection memorabilia of the winning party which was Kevin Rudd’s groupie. So this year being her first, we got her all dressed up for a photo session with Santa.

We got the just as the kid and her Mum and Grandmum was sorting out the payments and while that was happening, there was a kiddie and his parents just looking at Santa on the side. The girl at the cashier was aware that we were next in line and told us that it won’t be long. So we waited and while that waiting, I was combing Ella’s hair and setting her little pink bow right. I purposely dressed her up in her Christmas dress for this so I was going all the way with this photo shoot thingy. And just as I turned from all that fussing, Ted said that someone had cut our line…and I was like, wait a min….we were here first.

What had happened was the kid who was watching from the sideline ended up in Santa’s lap before we could say ‘Merry Chrismas!’ and another guy was up at the camera snapping away while we were left literally holding Ella in the air, waiting our turn. Both of us were pretty upset about it but Ted took it more seriously than me. He was very annoyed about it so we left. I thought it was really rude of that woman to jump queue. Who cares if your kid was nearer to Santa, we were waiting in line first! So much for the spirit of Christmas….and to think that such behaviour is considered appalling even during non-festive seasons, but with Christmas just around the corner, I personally felt it was totally unacceptable!

But that wasn’t going to stop me from getting my baby girl a picture with Santa, o no…..if I want my baby in a pix with Santa, come hell or high water, she’ll get it, dammit! So off we went to another shopping complex and while some pix for the album and both grandmas were getting printed, we went to the Santa station and yes, this time, there were no stupid parents cutting queues….in fact, we were the only ones. :D So Ella finally got her pix taken with Santa. :) Will post that pix up later….wouldn’t want to spoil it for now. I can’t help but say that she looked SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute with that dress and little pink bow in her hair. There had better be no dummy telling me what a cute baby BOY I have – I’ll definitely kick em’ in the bum!!

Mummy’s little champ

Lots of claps for my little champ!! Ella did well beyond my expectations today. I’ve been dreading today since the time Ted booked the appointment with the Doc. I don’t think I stand alone on this matter. I mean, which mother wants to see her baby cry in pain right? But all said and done, pain or not, vaccinations is a must and it’s for her own good anyway so, suka tak suka, we went today to get Ella’s shots.

Not too sure if she knew where she was but the moment we entered the clinic, she went all frowny and simply refused to smile or ‘talk’ to anyone. We had popped by pathology to visit Grandma’s friend and although she was talking to Ella like mad, Ella simply ignored her. Poor thing really. If only she could see that dazzling smile Ella showers on me and Ted – she’d be over the moon. Sorry, Sherrilyn….maybe next time.

Ella must have recognise the place or sense that something horrid was going to happen to her because she was just so quiet. Although she didn’t fuss when Doc gave her the oral meds, she did cry when getting jabbed. Which baby wouldn’t?? But surprisingly, she didn’t turn dark red or screamed till there was no sound. In fact, she cried loud enough and settled down pretty quick the minute I have her the bottle. For the record, there was only ONE tear and even that didn’t roll down her bak pau cheeks….she sheds more tears when we don’t entertain her enough!!! Cheeky little vegemite…. ;)

You know, she refused to smile or take note of me all the way back home. In fact, she had on this ‘I dont like you and you’ve got to earn my trust’ look on her face all thoroughout the journey….poor thing, made me feel bad too BUT it has to be done. She’s got 2 months grace to get it over with before her 6th month vaccination and then it’s 12 months, 18 months and the last one is 4 years of age. Good thing she doesn’t need to get additional shots before we leave for Malaysia. Phew!

Doc said she took it well and it could be because I was prepared for the worst. I knew I had to remain calm or she would sense it and I knew what was coming anyway so we were prepared. Hence, I didn’t think it was so bad this time around. Another reason could be because she’s bigger now and it’s already her second time getting jabbed so the body must be getting used to it plus her thighs are bigger too. No need to say how worried and terrified Ted looked! lol Poor Daddy couldn’t handle it and was glad that I didn’t ask him to hold her as planned. :)

Growth rate is good. Doc said that she’s at the 90 percentile [what ever that means] and thriving well. She’s weighing 6.94kgs, up by 1.14kgs since the last time we weighed her.

I did ask Doc about solids and juices, and was told that we could wait till 6 months before introducing any solids since she is exclusively breastfed but could slowly give her starters after New Year. As for juices, no harm in trying as well but just a couple of teaspoon also after New Year….so it’s rather exciting and I can’t wait! :) This also means that she will be able to take solids when we are in Malaysia….Nanna’s gonna have fun cooking for u!! :D
